RITCHIE BLACKMORE’S RAINBOW STREAM “THE STORM”

Ritchie Blackmore’s Rainbow have released a stream of their new single.

It’s titled The Storm, and it follows Black Sheep Of The Family, which appeared last month.

The Storm originally appeared on Blackmore’s Night album Fires At Midnight – which was released back in 2001, although the new version, as you might expect, has a much harder and rockier edge. Check out both versions below.

Blackmore is joined in the current Rainbow lineup by vocalist Ronnie Romero, Stratovarius keyboard player Jens Johansson, Blackmore’s Night drummer David Keith and bassist Bob Nouveau.

In 2017, the band released their first new recordings in over two decades: a re-working of the band’s 1981 hit I Surrender – originally sung by Joe Lynn Turner – and a cover of Edward Elgar’s Land Of Hope And Glory.

  1. I’m glad Blackmore returned to rock, but just because he’s in the band doesn’t make it Rainbow, regardless of him owning the name. KI$$ isn’t KI$$, Ratt isn’t Ratt, Foreigner isn’t Foreigner, and Quiet Riot sure as hell isn’t Quiet Riot.

  2. my thoughts are – Blackmore still his his chops you can hear it in the beginning of the song – the production doesn’t come close to the rainbow of the 70’s and early 80’s i actually hate how it sounds – it’s a pretty bad song as well – I dont know… when you are in your 70’s and have money , how do you recapture what you did as a young man with no money and a hunger and drive to become successful – i think it’s very difficult to do on a consistent basis – I also think ronnie romero is an amazing young vocalist i love his style of vocal the dio & coverdale sound – when he put rainbow back together with romero , it lacked heaviness and swagger, that was really missing for me , the musicians were solid but other than romero IMO the other guys were the wrong choice – Maybe blackmore should stick to what he has been doing with blackmore’s night ….
