“REJOICE,” DEF LEPPARD RELEASES NEW SINGLE AHEAD OF THEIR FEBRUARY LAS VEGAS RESIDENCY

Def Leppard have released their new single Rejoice. The dynamic track comes ahead of Def Leppard‘s triumphant return to Las Vegas for their Def Leppard: Live at Caesars Palace The Las Vegas Residency that begins February 3rd. Rejoice is available on UMe now on all streaming platforms. Watch the official lyric video below.

On the creation of the song, Def Leppard lead singer Joe Elliott shares, “This song’s been an amazing journey from concept to conclusion. I said to Phil [CollenDef Leppard guitarist] one day, ‘I’ve got this idea for a lyric where the narrator is at absolute rock bottom and wants to rise up to a higher level. Do you have a musical piece that might match with that?’ And he said, ‘As it happens, yes I do.'”

Collen adds, “I had this riff, this idea for a song a while ago actually, so when Joe came to me I created this drum loop based with a tribal sound and it fit perfectly with this other arrangement I had. I sent it to Joe and it was like magic — he sang straight over the top of it. And that’s how the song was formed. Then we gave it to Ronan [McHugh] who’d done a proper drum loop with different sounds. It all started gelling and just sounded like a powerful chant. We love it. It’s hard rock for us. It’s got a bit more of an ‘oomph’ than stuff we’ve been doing for a while. It’s kind of magical.”

Fans can expect a brand new electrifying show and hear Rejoice live alongside classics from Def Leppard‘s timeless catalog of hits at their Las Vegas residency. Def Leppard: Live at Caesars Palace The Las Vegas Residency runs through February 28th at The Colosseum at Caesars Palace. These new shows follow the band’s sold-out residency successes in 2019 and 2013.

  1. I’ve got to say that I really like this one – and sadly, just lately – I’ve been able to relate to the lyrics.

I had a bout of depression for the last couple of weeks; something I do suffer from every now and then. Thankfully it has subsided over this last week, although emotions are still a little high at the moment. So hearing this and reading the lyrics – it’s made me think a little and my mood has improved more.

I’m not telling you this for any sort of sympathy. What I would like to do is let anybody else know that contributes to this website, that if they are feeling a bit down, please don’t think that you are alone – and don’t sit in silence. I spoke to my mother first, and then I spoke to four work colleagues (three of which are very lovely ladies indeed – one of which I’ve helped and cared for and about over the last couple of years due to some horrible goings on in her private life.)

It is nothing to be ashamed of, and the more you talk, the better things become.

On another emotional note, the 8th January this year marked the 35th anniversary of the passing of Mr Steve Clark. I still get upset by his story, and just the other day I was speaking to my boss about him and had to stop because emotions began to rise. A true talent, gone far, far too soon and hopefully will never be forgotten.

Steve Maynard Clark – May you forever remain in peace.

    1. I am so sorry to read this, but know you are not alone in your pain. The world has become quite dark and chaotic.

I myself, have been having some scary, frustrating physical issues over the last month, that landed me in the ER twice. So, like you, I felt a bit uplifted by the lyrics.

    2. Hello Dana

First of all, I hope that you are doing well with regards to your situation.

Secondly, thank you for reaching out with your message. I am actually doing ok at the moment (I feel some what normal); I bought myself a new guitar on Tuesday evening (Taylor 214ce Special Addition Acoustic in TransGrey) and have been playing that a bit. I have also been listening to music – funnily enough, this new Def Leppard song wasn’t the only one of their’s I’ve been listening to. I’ve also been listening to the song “Wings of an Angel” from the album Def Leppard (Listen to the lyrics in that one) and I’ve also been watching the late great Steve Clark tear-up the stage in 1988 doing ‘Die Hard The Hunter’ – absolutely fantastic. (Can’t believe he’s been gone 35 years)

As I said in my original post, I’ve also been speaking to people. One of the lovely ladies I mentioned came and checked on me everyday, which she didn’t have to do, and is now looking forward to hearing me play my new guitar at work once I’ve had it set-up again.

So, I’m going to keep trying to move forward. I wish you well and hope that you don’t end up in the hospital again, whatever the reason was – plus I’m sure if you were to post something here and wanted to talk about it, all us (aging) metalhead’s would quickly rally around.

      Stay safe.
