QUESTION OF THE WEEK: WHAT IS THE ONE QUESTION YOU THINK INTERVIEWERS HAVE NOT ASKED AND OF WHOM? YOU ARE ALLOWED TO INCLUDE MUSICIANS WHO HAVE PASSED ON

Just off the top of my pinhead (lol), I would have loved to have known why John Sykes titled Jelly Roll, Jelly Roll? What is the significance? Jelly Roll Morton? A nickname for someone? His favorite treat?

If I think of anything else, I will update my comment.

  1. To Mustaine: “If Metallica had never fired you, do you think they would have achieved their level of fame or would you have held them back?” To Axl Rose: “How much of your reputation for being difficult was actually about ensuring G ‘n R held high standards, or how much of it was about your own insecurities?” To Ozzy; “Do you think the ‘Prince of Darkness’ image really fit your true personality?”

    1. On Sirius XM, Billy Morrision asked Ozzy Osbourne why heavy metal was affiliated with devil worhipping, evil, and satanic imagery. Ozzy replied “How the f- would I know?!”. Billy responded “You don’t know??? Then why do they call you the “Prince of Darkness””? They both chuckled after the exchange…

    2. Rattle,

I once watched an interview with Osbourne, where he discussed all of that in terms of Black Sabbath‘s imagery and song content.

He explained that dark image was two fold: One reason was because Butler, being the main lyricist, at one point in his life (as the beginning of their first couple of records), was interested in the occult. Additionally, the band realized it was also a niche, and a shtick, which helped to generate buzz and sell records.

He said that when Sabbath was out on the road, anytime the band would encounter occultist groupies, or witches, they would run away from them. The band wanted no part of the dark arts in any way shape or form. He reiterated that it was all a ruse and they were freaked out by it.

Additionally, I will never forget when the HYSTERICAL Zakk Wylde, was once on Eddie‘s show, where he was recounting about the time when they were at Right Track recording in Manhattan He said, before Osbourne got to their rehearsal space, he wanted to surprise him by decorating the room. He recalled that he put up quite a few images of Aleister Crowley on the walls, When Osbourne arrived, he was waiting for a reaction, but Osbourne had none. So Wylde prompted him, and Osbourne replied, “Who the f–k is that?” He had no clue-LOL! Then Wylde told him that it was Aleister Crowley. I forgot his response, but the point being, Osbourne had no interest in the occult, nor the dark arts, etc., it was all an image for publicity.

The Prince of Darkness, other than his “costume” of dark clothing, wearing crosses, etc., was really the Prince Of Luxury and History.

  2. It’d be a question to Tommy Lee: Why did you kick Pamela Anderson in her back, even worse while she was holding your infant son, and how was it to see that son grow up to coldcock you in the face and knock you out…?

    1. Hi Mr. RN’R,

I am not Tommy Lee, nor was I there, but my recollection from watching many interviews with Anderson, and all the press coverage was, it was their first son, Brandon, who hit his father. Anderson was holding their second son, Dylan, at the time of the incident.

Also, while I cannot recall if Lee ever commented publicly on the situation (maybe he apologized?), I am fairly certain he would blame it all on substance abuse.

    2. Dana, you are right! Thank you for the correction, I appreciate it! 🙂
