QUESTION OF THE WEEK: SINCE BRUCE DICKINSON’S RENDITION OF OUR “STAR SPANGLED BANNER” IS MAKING THE ROUNDS AGAIN, WHO DO YOU THINK SANG OR PLAYED IT BEST?

For singing, even though it was canned, and not live as many thought, Whitney Houston.

Instrumental? Well since, the most iconic is Jimi Hendrix‘s version from Woodstock, I will go with that one.

I am sure others artists, who performances I might have missed, such as Carrie Underwood, Kelly Clarkson and Christina Aguilera, did good job,Houston‘s version is the one that is most memorable to me.

    1. @Dana. “airplane” gave his career new life after decades in the biz. {forbidden planet, anyone?) naked gun 2 may have been his last genuinely funny film.

    2. Years ago I used to have a crush on Neilsen as well! đŸ˜‰ Surely you can’t be serious – I am serious! And don’t call me Shirley! Lol!

    1. – Although at least Roseanne’s “rendition” was actually live, unlike Whitney Vanilli

    2. Who is foolish enough to ask a comic, who has no known knowledge of singing skills, to perform one of the most difficult songs ever, accapella?

Obviously, the San Diego Padres knew when they asked Roseanne Barr to “sing,” exactly what they were going to get, an off key, screechy parody of the song. It was clearly a goof from beginning to end.

I am so sick of people blaming Barr for this, she was asked and accepted. The blame lies with the front office of the San Diego Padres, who were clearly in on the joke, despite the boos from the crowd and Barr being thrown under the bus.

    3. D, when I was a young Canadian kid I remember stying up late watching Johnny Carson with my Mom and seeing Roseanne’s first time on his show. She was funny as as heck-so much fun. Loved those early Roseanne show years, and her stand-up was always solid. I always thought her singing the anthem was done in true Barr style. Too crude for the audience, well, for some.
