QUESTION OF THE WEEK FROM POSTER RICH: WHICH ARTISTS DID YOU LOVE BUT THEY NEVER ACHIEVED THE LEVEL OF COMMERCIAL SUCCESS THEY DESERVED?

Definitely, John Sykes (to quote Valley Of The Kings, “a thousand times over.”) and Tora Tora.

I know many people who thought Kix should have had greater success. Also, Tyketto was a pretty good band, who flew under the radar. Danger Danger, because of Andy Timmons. There are so many, but if something strikes me, I will update my list.

  1. This is a good one. Here are a few of mine, some a bit more obscure than others. Thin Lizzy and UFO immediately come to mind. Both were hugely influential, but neither reached the level of commercial success I think their music deserved. On the more melodic side: Harem Scarem, Hardline, Heaven’s Edge, and TNT. All great-sounding, but for one reason or another, they could never quite break through to that next level. And then there are three bands I love. Yes, they actually reached a decent level of success, but IMHO, Extreme, Firehouse, and Tesla should have been huge.
