  1. Excellent points Dana. One of the beautiful things about discussing music is there is never really a wrong opinion. As far as Dio singing Ozzy era Sabbath, check out Black Sabbaths Live Evil!

    1. Not sure if you were making a joke, but damn, Barry isn’t in the HOF? Barry is my guilty pleasure, seen him live like 3 times. I still to this day will listen to his music (nothing better than putting on shuffle on my songs and having Slayer, Metallica, Zep, Ratt, MANILLOW!!!). He definitely deserves to be in.

So does Weird Al, and THE MONKEES!!!

    2. To each their own, but I cannot agree with any of those choices.

While I love the Monkees, and they are certainly the most rock n’ roll of the three mentioned above, they were somewhat of a parody band. Perhaps, not in the same ridiculous vein as Steel Panther, but a Beatles parody, nonetheless.

      Speaking of parody…

    3. Michael minutagIo. I said it a few times here, even mentioning it to dana… Just think about this. qualification is inspiration\ longevity.. He has both… When bon jovi, dokken, slade, and all the other hard rockers went on American bandstand, what was the 1st thing you heard? The theme to American bandstand which manilow wrote..
McDonalds jingle , bandaids jingle, many others he wrote them.
Not to mention his own mega hits.
Yankovic puts more effort in his videos than ppl put in their own music.
I’m not too sure about the monkees.. Plus half the other ppl in here ( rappers ,grunge)

    4. Frampton and Foreigner do and Ozzy does not deserve going in as a solo artist, he is a bit of a fraud in that regard

  2. Congratulations to Ozzy. A well deserved, awesome, recognition. But it would have been even more awesome if the entire Blizzard Of Ozz band (the band name before it became an Ozzy solo project) got in, not just Ozzy.

    1. The worst decision in metal history, Steve Machat signing only Ozzy to CBS with Tony Martell. He empowered Darth Hideous to break up an all time great band

People should know those first two masterpieces were recorded as Blizzard of ozz

  3. Is it just OZZY or are his bands getting in as well? I love Ozzy, but IMO Randy, Jake E Lee and Zakk are just as important to Ozzy’s success.

Or maybe I would just LOVE to see Zakk Wylde get inducted somehow…I love that guy!!

    1. Bob Daisley was a huge part of Ozzy’s ongoing success, and let’s not forget Rhoads.

Yes, Lee, and Wylde are very important, but with out the initial success of the original Blizzard of Ozz band, Ozzy’s career may have fizzled out at the launchpad.

    2. Bob daisley…..Lee Kerslake.

Blizzard of ozz is the best band Ozzy was ever in

    3. I think most people know that Ozzy, would be nowhere, without Rhoads, Daisley and Kerslake.

Additionally Daisley, despite being backstabbed many times, continued to write for Ozzy, up until, I believe was, No More Tears? If so, many may agree, that was his last great record. I have read Dailey‘s book, For Facts Sake, and I cannot recommend it, enough.

Finally, I think we can all agree, that Ozzy, Sharon, or both, have a highly attuned sense for spotting talent. As Ozzy managed to continually surround himself with it, which is, and was, a major key, to his ongoing success. However, nothing touches his original lineup.

    1. Well James and Lars inducted Black Sabbath back in 2006, so I suppose it’s possible.

Personally, had he still been with us, I think Ozzy would have wanted Lemmy to do it. Lemmy did write lyrics for him after all and they were good friends.
