    1. I’ll take a “Cheeseburger In Paradise” along with a couple of “Boat Drinks” in “Margaritaville!” Look out for those “Fins” Cheers!

    1. And ozzy is really a nod to his post Sabbath band, Blizzard of ozz. The concept of ozzy going in solo is laughable

  1. I’m not saying Ozzy isn’t deserving. He has been one of the greatest entertainers in rock history as well as a highly underrated vocalist. BUT and there is a but, he didn’t play any notes on his solo albums excluding the harmonica. His voice is an instrument don’t get me wrong and feel free to correct me if you have facts that prove me wrong. I also believe he didn’t write any lyrics. But yet he gets all the credit. He has been very very blessed to happen to have some of the greatest songwriters and musicians in his camp from day one of his career. I believe a handful of the musicians that have been in his solo band should be inducted as well. It’s only fair.

    1. RPS,

I agree with most of what you wrote, minus that Ozzy is an underrated vocalist. I would say his vocals are an acquired taste, like caviar.

In my youth, when I would listen to Ozzy, my mother would always say he had a terrible “singing” voice. She liked his personality, and she said he was a nice looking man, but his voice? Yeah, no. I never minded his voice, but I can understand that it might be somewhat polarizing.

Regarding your last comment, I completely agree, and that person should be Bob Daisley!

    2. I mostly agree with Real Paul Stanley as well, but for a slightly different reason. As I feel about Eric Clapton, I don’t think it’s really necessary for Ozzy to be in the RRHoF in multiple categories at the expense of other well-deserving and long-time waiting artists who still have not been nominated or inducted.

  2. Although Ozzy didn’t write the lyrics he came up with the melodies and the delivery of the lyrics . In my opinion that’s the hardest part of writing songs . That’s where the good hooks come from not the words .
You can sing about anything but it’s the delivery that makes a song stick in your head, especially the chroruses . That gets overlooked quite a bit especially when Eddie talks about his contributions . Here’s a good example of delivery differences . Listen to how Dio adds his own delivery to the songs Ozzy songs on Black Sabbaths Live Evil . I seriously beliieve those songs wouldn’t be as classic as they are with Dios delivery of the words . I freaking cringe when I hear his version of the song Black Sabbath on live evil . Anyways congrts Ozz, I hope you get everyone together for the big night .

    1. Excellent points Ray. I was trying to explain that when I said his voice was an instrument but couldn’t find the words. I agree Dio singing the song Black Sabbath wasn’t the greatest. Same with Iron Man. And I love Dio.

    2. I would compare Ozzy and Dio, in almost the same way, as Roth and Hagar.

Neither Ozzy, nor Roth, have the strongest voices, but both are entertainers with big personalities. Clearly Dio is in a category of his own, but my point is, both he, and Hagar, can actually sing.

I have no recollection of hearing, any of Dio’s renditions, of Ozzy era Sabbath. I saw Heaven and Hell, so I am sure they performed a song, or possibly two, but if I cannot recall hearing that version, it did not, no pun intended, strike a chord with me.

As for Ozzy writing melodies, I hear that is also a debatable issue. However, he was influenced by The Beatles, so it presume, it is possible.

I think Ozzy, is more than deserving of being inducted into the hall, as a solo artist. His career, has has far more success, than any lineup of Black Sabbath, after he left. Additionally, both he, and Sharon’s ability in picking amazing musicians to surround himself with, is worthy of induction, alone.

Due to the hall’s pathetic legacy, what is debatable, is whether it really is an honor, being inducted, at all.
