Metallica will be headlining this year’s Lollapalooza along with Paul McCartney and Florence + the Machine. The event is set to take place from July 31st to August 2nd in Chicago’s Grant Park.
Metallica will be performing on August 1st and are pumped for the upcoming gig. “It’s been nearly 20 years since we’ve been lucky enough to take the stage at Lollapalooza, so we are over the top that we’ve been asked to play this year at the now annual extravaganza held at Grant Park in Chicago. We’ll be hitting the stage on Saturday, August 1st,” the band writes.
Tickets are still available. They go on-sale at Lollapalooza.com, starting at 10 A.M. local time today (March 25th). Check out a full list the bands performing below.

Why are they playing Lallapalooza? What do they have in common with the other acts on that bill? They should have just concentrated on a new album and done their own tour and leave this goofy alternative festival alone.
Metallica is playing Lallapalooza, AC/DC is playing Coachella, what’s next? Is Rush going to play CMT Fan Fair?
Why? For the same reason any band takes a gig, a paycheck!
And before you say Metallica doesn’t need the extra cash, read this article.

They’ve not been very wise with their money. They’ve definitely made some bad decisions.
Through the Never was a pretty strange film. It clearly missed whatever target they were aiming for.
I’m sure they’ll all do fine financially, in the long term.
