KISS have released a statement on their official website addressing the Rock Hall induction. Here is what it states:
“To All Our Fans In Regards To The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame:
Out of respect, Ace and Peter’s recent statements demand a quick response to you, our fans.
Our intention was to celebrate the entire history of KISS and give credit to all members including long time present members Tommy Thayer and Eric Singer, and additionally Bruce Kulick and Eric Carr all who have made this band what it is, regardless of the Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame’s point of view.
Although KISS has moved forward far longer without them, Ace and Peter are at the very foundation of what we have built and this would all be impossible had they not been a part of it in the beginning.
It is over 13 years since the original lineup has played together in make-up and we believe the memory of those times would not be enhanced. Contrary to claims made through the media we have never refused to play with Ace and Peter.
We have spent 40 years dedicated to building KISS without quitting or wavering as the band has moved forward with huge tours and platinum albums through different important lineups for forty years, to this day.
KISS has always been a band unlike any other. That is why we started KISS. That is why we continue KISS. Being unlike other bands also means making choices and decisions unlike other bands.
This is understandably an emotional situation where there is no way to please everyone.
To bring this to a quick end, we have decided not to play in any line-up and we will focus our attention on celebrating our induction into the Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame.
We are excited and are looking forward to seeing you all on the KISS 40th Anniversary worldwide tour.”

LOL. Delicious. The RRHOF gets screwed out of a performance again lmao. Here comes more cover songs and selected and edited speeches for HBO.
Rush rules. Been around 40 yrs this year as well and none of this drama happened on their watch.
Hey Gene and Paul,
You are right that the Rock N Roll HOF board are wrong not to include all the members who have participated in Kiss over the years. As far as your B.S. statement about not wanting to play with Ace and Peter because that memory wouldn’t be enhanced, what a crock of shit. I know in the arrogance of your wealth you (Gene & Paul) don’t care, but if you really mean it when you say you owe it to the fans, then give the fans what they want. Ace, Gene, Paul & Peter “Alive” just once more.
A Lifetime Fan
The fans should vote on who plays and who doesn’t. The RRHF, Gene, and Paul need to realize if it wasn’t for the fans they would be nothing today
Their statement sounds like it was written by lawyers. Nonetheless, Gene and Paul were basically called out by the outrage, total backlash and massive tide wave of comments against what they intended to do which was to play without Ace and Peter. Gene and Paul realized how asinine their lame brain idea was, so they smartened up, caved and retreated. Being rich doesn’t mean you’re smart.
KISS should not even show at the Rock and Roll Hall of Shame!
The hall never wanted them….and refuses to recognize the entire band (BTW: Gene and Paul seemed to have forgotten to mention V.V. in the list of past members).
The Hall lost any creditability when they admitted Pop, Rap and Disco acts like Michael Jackson, Madonna, Run DMC, Donna Summer……over ROCK bands like KISS and Deep Purple.
Totally agree with you. The Rock n Roll HOF is bullshit. I have never been a big KISS fan but they should have been in the HOF a long time ago. You still have bands like Iron Maiden waiting to be elected while bands that produce CRAP music like Guns n Roses are in.
I agree Bill, KISS should have been have been recognized decades ago!
It is a fucking joke! They should’ve been admitted within the first first 2-3 years! It’s just all politics now! Very sad. Fans scream “record company favoritism”, and all of a sudden the execs listen! You have it right, Eddie! Although,I must say-clueless is not a strong enough word to describe the voting members of the RRHOF!
