KISS RELEASE THEIR OWN STATEMENT REGARDING THE RNRHOF INDUCTION, BAND CLAIMS “WE NEVER REFUSED TO PLAY WITH ACE AND PETER”

kiss-return KISS have released a statement on their official website addressing the Rock Hall induction. Here is what it states:

“To All Our Fans In Regards To The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame:

Out of respect, Ace and Peter’s recent statements demand a quick response to you, our fans.

Our intention was to celebrate the entire history of KISS and give credit to all members including long time present members Tommy Thayer and Eric Singer, and additionally Bruce Kulick and Eric Carr all who have made this band what it is, regardless of the Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame’s point of view.

Although KISS has moved forward far longer without them, Ace and Peter are at the very foundation of what we have built and this would all be impossible had they not been a part of it in the beginning.

It is over 13 years since the original lineup has played together in make-up and we believe the memory of those times would not be enhanced. Contrary to claims made through the media we have never refused to play with Ace and Peter.

We have spent 40 years dedicated to building KISS without quitting or wavering as the band has moved forward with huge tours and platinum albums through different important lineups for forty years, to this day.

KISS has always been a band unlike any other. That is why we started KISS. That is why we continue KISS. Being unlike other bands also means making choices and decisions unlike other bands.

This is understandably an emotional situation where there is no way to please everyone.

To bring this to a quick end, we have decided not to play in any line-up and we will focus our attention on celebrating our induction into the Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame.

We are excited and are looking forward to seeing you all on the KISS 40th Anniversary worldwide tour.”

  1. The only good thing about all of this is it seems over 90% of Kiss fans are done with the present lineup and the bs cover band charade we’ve had to endure over the past decade. Some fans have humored them and bought the albums, but haven’t gone to the shows, or might have purchased things like books and dvds, but not the plethora of crap Gene will slap the Kiss label on. It’s clear they were running on roughly 50% support when they need co-headliners like Motley Crue to help carry them. The vast majority of Kiss fans seem finally ready to take Old Yeller out behind the wood shed and put that figurative bullet in what’s left of their career. Gene and Paul have had this one coming for years now and I can’t say I feel sorry for them in the least. If anything, we’re doing them a favor by ending what should be an embarrassment to even those guys at this point: you have a shirtless pudge-boy that struggles to hit notes with the Pillsbury Doughboy across the stage, squeezed into a costume with the only thing looking more ridiculous is trying to decide which one has the worst, and painfully obvious, bad wig at this juncture. I can hear the funeral dirge already leading up to this 40th anniversary tour of theirs. They’ll be good if they can get Jack Russell’s Great White to step down from the Holiday Inn tour and open for the Kiss cover band that’ll be resigned to play the third-world counties they can still hope to dupe into thinking they’re seeing the real Kiss. I can just see it now, Tommy and Eric trying to pass off the Spaceman and Catman characters to villagers somewhere in Togo with the Kiss logo on fire behind them created from sticks and straw… and even then Gene will try and slap that Kiss logo on spears and loin cloths to make a buck at the concession stand.

    1. THAT was a great post! True they have relegated themselves to third world country tours- I notice they don’t do much in the US. Guess it’s harder to fool us with Tommy and Eric.

i do think a lot of these folks in the foreign countries they tour, think they are getting Ace and Peter and don’t realize it isn’t the original four.

    2. They have come over here, Europe that is, quite a few times in the past decade, are we third-world countries now? Your attitude is just ridiculous. Hell I can’t stand these arrogant Americans. And yes, fans over here CAN tell the difference between the original and the current lineup, we have seen both. And we still got money enough here in Germany to buy expensive tickets.

    3. Klaus, that comment is made tongue in cheek. KISS was an American band but in the last few years have to rely on foreign concert tours to bring in the bucks- They aren’t a hot commodity in the US anymore, yet they are still fairly popular overseas. Sorry but I do think in a lot of the countries fans still think it’s Ace and Peter playing.

Eric Singer has long blond hair yet wears a short, dark wig like Peter’s hair. So it seems like the idea is to emulate Ace and Peter to a T.

    4. Cali, you are right, I know, they have quite outsold the venues they played in Europe during the last let’s say 10 years or so. From reading posts it also seems that tickets are a bit cheaper here, for you that would around 90 Dollars. germans as well as many other Europeans are constant concert goers, concerts of the well-known bands sell out in a fgew days. American bands know that. Still, they have been touring our continent because the are successful, but in the US support is on the decline. Which might be because over here we do not get that much of the weird things going on in the press etc. I would have to ask my friends whether they think it is still Ace, probably younger fans over here might think so or at least might think that these guys have always been together, which would amount to the same thing. And of course, because the reunion showed G and P (playing 5000 eat venues at the time!) that only the original lineup is what really sells out arenas of 15,000+ they have been emulating that look and sound. I admit I’d rather go see the current Kiss than no Kiss, I also saw Ace solo here two times about 5 to 6 years ago, that was cool, but I wonder if it is still realistic for him to tour Europe again even if he really got another record out. i would have loved one final arena show after the induction in the original lineup with a state-of-art dvd after that.

  2. I can understand that Gene and Paul want to move forward with the new incarnation of KISS. I think they know that a temporary reunion would fire up the KISS world again and speculation would run wild about a tour reunion. I know that Peter and Ace and Gene and Paul would never go on tour again. Any KISS fan should know that.

HOWEVER it was not their choice that only the original four be inducted- while it may not be fair based on other incarnations of other bands being inducted, for whatever strange reason, the Hall only wanted the original four.

It is disappointing and sad the two grown men can’t man up and drop their pretenses to play with their old band mates for a half hour. Suddenly Gene is tweeting all kinds of anti Ace and Peter crap thanks to the ‘fans’ out there who are lambasting Peter and Ace through Twitter.

Gene is being a first class jerk by retweeting this. He and Paul should have a bit of class and humility and respect for P&A no matter what the issues were in the past. I’ve no doubt that Peter and Ace have screwed up, but Paul and Gene haven’t been saints either, nor have they handled issues properly in the past with Ace and Peter.

Peter and Ace seemed to have cleaned up their acts, and they probably have some right to feel bitter- however in my opinion they have showed more class about this than Gene and Paul have.

Without Ace and Peter, Gene and Paul might be back in Brooklyn wrapping fish at this point in their lives. Who knows? Those two can only thank Peter and Ace for having the same drive and ambition at the time to make ALL of their dreams happen.

  3. Haha, everyone on Twitter is so stewed and so busy supporting Gene and Paul claiming to love the latest incarnation and saying that ALL members should be inducted then it would be awesome and then KISS would play. They are blaming the fact that all weren’t inducted as to why G&P refuse to play.

G&P are only refusing to play because they don’t want to get Ace and Peter involved again, has nothing to do with them putting their foot down about the fact that ‘all should be inducted’.

I am betting that if all were inducted Gene and Paul would still REFUSE to play with Ace and Peter. Or Paul would anyways.
