Deep Purple’s latest studio album, inFinite, was released April 7th, 2017, via earMUSIC. Produced by the legendary Bob Ezrin, (Pink Floyd, Alice Cooper, Kiss), InFinite featured 10 new tracks recorded with no musical boundaries in the spirit of the 70s. The metal pioneers have released five studio albums since 1996, augmented by an abundance of solo work and special projects from members Ian Gillan, Roger Glover, Ian Paice, Steve Morse and Don Airey. Fans will be thrilled as they cover decades of favorites for this run. For more information, please visit www.deep-purple.com. Additionally, Airey will release his solo album One of a Kind on May 25th.
Judas Priest’s latest studio album, Firepower, was released March 9th, 2018, via Epic Records. Co-produced by Tom Allom and Andy Sneap, the 14-track album has become one of the most successful of the band’s entire career – landing in the “top-5” of 17 countries (including their highest chart placement ever in the U.S.), and scoring their highest charting commercial rock radio single in decades with Lightning Strike. Few heavy metal bands have managed to scale the heights that Judas Priest have during their near 50-year career, and with a line-up featuring Rob Halford, Glenn Tipton, Richie Faulkner, Ian Hill, and Scott Travis, Judas Priest will be scorching across North America with some heavy metal Firepower again this summer and fall on tour with Deep Purple! Omg! I’m seeing Judas Priest, Saxon and Black Star Riders this weekend and I hope Priest and Deep Purple hit my area! Oh man, what a show that’ll be! Two of my all-time favorite bands ever in one night!
Btw, I wanna give a shout out to Eddie, Dana and everyone here. I was away from here for a long time for various reasons, but I’m happy to be back. Eddie rocks, Dana rocks, all of the regulars here who leave comments and interact with each other rock, Airbourne rocks (hello Dana and Doug R!)… All y’all have yourselves a great week.
IS Deep Purple the actual headline on this? ………..Foolishness
Hey James, what’s up my brother from another mother?! BTW, welcome back, bro! Just got back home from Atlantic City, all I can say is Joe f–kin’ Perry still ROCKS! As does Brad Whitford, Dizzy Reed, and Gary Cherone sounded better than ever! Unfortunately there was no Aerosmith jam with Tyler, Kramer & Hamilton, but it’s cool, Perry & Friends kicked ass, and 2019 is right around the corner! As far as Airbourne goes, have you picked up Diamond Cuts yet? If not, you should! Even if you have the first 3 albums, the bonus CD with the new tracks and b-sides plus the documentary DVD make it worth it! 9/12 in Jacksonville is Purple Priest day!! About a 2 hour drive from where I live, but to see Purple Priest, I’d go “Space Truckin'” to the moon! 😉 And I wouldn’t even care if I made it back alive! Deep Purple and Judas Priest together? Talk about “Firepower!” 😉 Take care, James, rock on, paisan! Cheers! 🙂
I will definitely pick Diamond Cuts up. I know Purple is a favorite of The Metal God, so maybe we’ll see him onstage singing with Gillan. That’d be great! Take care Doug!
Doug, you could’ve been in Atlantic City in one hour, why would you drive 500 miles each way?
Because getting there is half the fun! Especially when you’re traveling in an awesome RV! And it was over 1,000 miles each way! And besides, who wants to fly these days? Unless you absolutely have to.
A thousand miles….eah way? Give me first class; a rum and coke when I sit down, and I am there by the afternoon where I go to my nice hotel; relax and order room service. I wouldn’t drive that far to see the Son of God probably.
I did drive 320 each way to see that Dokken reunion, but the way the flights were routed it would’ve taken me just as long to fly down there. Interesting huh? 🙂
Well I love my first class hotel on wheels! On long trips, I share the driving with my wife, and my best friend, sure beats the hassels of flying today! If you have the time and the money, RVing is the way to go, bro! And to see bands like Deep Purple & Judas Priest, I’d go to “Hell & Back!” 😉
Well, I tell ya, one thing I’d like to do sometime is take in a full baseball season; travel to every Dodger game and go first class the whole way. I would not do all that driving and spending time in the RV but it sounds like you are having a great time even though philosophically I am not sure if that’s one or two people you referred to as your co-captains.
BTW, Shannon, have you ever tried Sammy’s Beach Bar Rum? Yum! If not, you should try it with KISS Kola, I call it my “Red Rocket Ride,” it’s a blast! 😉 KISS Destroyer Kola is awesome, but it also goes great with KISS Rock And Roll Over Cherry Kola! And if you really want to experiment, try it with KISS Army Root Beer! All available at my favorite soda pop & candy shop – ROCKET FIZZ!! Not a sales pitch, I do not have stock in that company. ( 😉 ) My first Judas Priest concert? 1979, Nassau Coliseum, LI-NY, opening for KISS! 🙂
You’re right, Shannon, I should’ve made that clearer, TWO co-captains, my wife Eileen, and my best friend/buddy David. On long trips we all share the captain’s chair. (not at the same time of course) LOL!
You know Doug, when God gave Adam dominion over all the earth; all of the animals, the land, the seas, Adam was lonely, he said to God “I need a companion, someone who is my best friend, someone I can trust with my whole heart and someone who will understand me and be kind and loving.” God said, “Ok Adam, but to do that it will cost an arm and a leg.” Adam said, “An arm and a leg? what can I get for a rib?” LOL
LOL!!! LMAO!!!!!!
I think this s a terrible pairing . in no way should priest play first before purple , maybe if blackmore was back maybe…….-
Cannot disagree
Priest just played Los Angeles where they sold out the 7500 seat theater. Now they are opening for DP and playing a 5000 seat amphitheater in town?? Doesn’t make a ton of sense…..
