The Van Halen News Desk reports:
Guitarist Bart Walsh — who played on David Lee Roth’s DLR Band tours from 1999 to 2001 — has launched a new band called 6 Degrees Of Van Halen. The new group will perform old-school Van Halen — including complete albums — from start to finish.
Asked why he’s doing this, Bart says, “It’s simply the best f–king music to play live. If you want to go out and play… I’m sorry, but it just doesn’t get any better than old Van Halen.”
Players joining Walsh in the project so far include:
* Billy Sheehan (David Lee Roth, Mr. Big) – Bass
* Brett Tuggle (David Lee Roth, Fleetwood Mac – Keyboards, Guitar
* Paul Shortino (Quiet Riot, Rough Cuts – Vocals
This will be a fluid band, so that members can come as they can, and go as they need to. Bartwants to recruit multiple players for each spot, so that the band can play indefinitely, so that Van Halen fans can count on regular performances, no matter what other commitments the members might have. He definitely anticipates more band members to be added, even if they can only do a show or two. He sees the band’s lineup as somewhat of a revolving door, but a permanent vehicle to celebrate Van Halen music.

When I want to celebrate Van Halen’s music (both eras) I’ll just listen to the originals! Or wait until…
I have never been into tribute bands , I understand why they are successful , there are a few really good ones that I have watched clips of , BRIT FLOYD, LED ZEPPAGAIN, MR SPEED, Current KISS, JUSTIN SHANDOR , MARK MARTEL there are other good ones i’m sure I’m just not familiar with them , Shandor’s and martels similarity to both Elvis and Freddie is eerie, but Its just not for me , If the original band is not touring, passed away cant cut it anymore or the band has only 1 or 2 original members left , I’ll just put on my records- this tribute to VANHALEN is coming from a good place, they love the music , I hope its successful –
…the new House of Lords…where James Christian ingeniously appropriates Beatles melodies into this gothic metal. The pre-chorus to “Battle” is “While My Guitar Gently Weeps” for example. This kind of depth and musicality fosters many re-visits to their songs…:)
Paul Shortino got the Quiet Riot gig back in the 80’s over James Christian whose demo never got to Frankie Banalai on account of the decision already been made to hire Shortino. However, Chuck Wright had Christian’s demo when Gene came around with the idea for House of Lords; Christian went from living in a storage room to living in a furnished apartment with maid service overnight. Christian is also still writing viable new music.
Ghost is a gimmick, their music is a gimmick, it’s a knock-off of good music. What that guy does in Ghost is work tirelessly, you can “see” the mechanics of his work…great music is seamless, there are no mechanics visible…UFO called their record Mechanix but they were referring to a different kind of Mechanic…also, Dave Mustaine’s version of Mechanic….
This band here should hire Zakk Wylde and do Sabbath and Van Halen, and other covers…any cover band with Sheehan is going to be a lot of fun..the guy is this musical magnet.
Huh?
This is all about me and my needs.
