Eddie i completely agree with you – the fact that they are blowing up right now means something is really missing from rock music , i want them to succeed ! they obviously need to stop the copy catting once they do that and develop their own thing the sky is the limit for them- here is a little perspective… many of the young people listening to GVF and the struts are too young to have remembered the heyday of zep and queen , i know because i work with several early 20 somethings who love rock but can only name bohemian rhapsody and stairway, and they love both these bands ! they don’t know all the great songs in their catalog , to a lot of these millennial rock fans these bands are original lol ! this is the first time they are hearing this style of music other than putting up with listening to their ” parents music” probably a lot of zep and queen they dismiss out of hand because its their parents music-
Look, I buy 10 to 15 cds/albums a month. I own thousands collected over 30+ years. I have a friend that sends me links to bands all day, and for the last 6 or 7 years its another AC/DC with a bad singer, another Zep, yet another AC/DC.. you are exactly right about millenials, more than half of their audience probably has no clue who they’re ripping off. Music is my life, I’m absorbed in it 24/7, so I truely want to see rock and heavy music get back in the mainstream. I just wish it could be a band with something more to offer. More imagination and originality. But if this gets the conversation started, I guess that’s a good thing. It just irritates me that most of this younger generation has no clue where these bands are copping their sound from. You are exactly right. They think it’s new.
This is a teenybopper band that won’t last.
