DO YOU THINK AI GENERATED ENTERTAINMENT WILL EVENTUALLY REPLACE REAL MUSICIANS?

My hope is no, but with AI “musicians” already having topped country music, and the R&B charts, it is concerning.

However, I do think it will be a long awhile before robots are performing onstage. I think the desire, and demand, for live human performances, are still what is in demand. It should be interesting to see how successful KISS‘ avatar show will be?

  1. The term AI artist is wrong , to me its generated entertainment Ai is not an artist – it seems like way too many people are apathetic and just dont care who or what makes the music they listen to… its very sad I hope this nonsense stops – its 100% hurting our culture. Its cheapening music if anyone can do it , if it continues music will become almost irrelevant to most people

    1. there will be pushback because young people have access to the great bands we grew up on, and they get it almost the same way we did in a lot of ways…but those people may just be in pockets and talk the loudest; i.e., skewing the actual masses that don’t care and have no problem, and are even happy, that the real artist is extinct…there aren’t any new rock stars of any significant magnitude to stop it either…

  2. My hope is no as well, but I’m sure its coming whether we like it or not…..

The human element is what makes music fulfilling & real. Things us fans can relate to in our own lives in certain lyrics & songs…not artificial.

  3. Everything evolves, for better or for worse. With advancing technology, the music business has changed and bands need to be creative to make money. Yes, I believe one day AI related entertainment will replace real musicians. It won’t be tomorrow, it may not in 100 years, but it’s coming…..

  4. Can I ask you all to have a listen to this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cEEoG73nFek&list=RDcEEoG73nFek&start_radio=1

This is a song called Kings of the Alley by a band called Sunset Vipers. Sunset Vipers DO NOT exist – they are a totally AI Generated band. Personally, although it is (I think) not a bad song, you can hear that it’s not real. There’s just something in the sound – it doesn’t have that naturalness that you get with a real band with real human beings playing instruments and singing lyrics that have come from a human creative mind.

So in answer to the question given to us by ‘The John Sykes Fan Club’ (Yes, that’s you Dana!): I hope not.

That’s not to say you can’t have a little fun with this technology (as long as it’s in the right hands). For example:

I give you Iron Kitty – The Troopurr: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xxZ8tow2A5M&list=RDxxZ8tow2A5M&start_radio=1

MegaCat – Symphony of Starvation: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kg1TwhlWm-4&list=RDkg1TwhlWm-4&start_radio=1

Judas Purrst – Breaking the Paw: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nt2hfGFwz4k&list=RDnt2hfGFwz4k&start_radio=1

    Cat Sabbath – Felinoid: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=B0d_-ffFr2w&list=RDB0d_-ffFr2w&start_radio=1

    Meowtallica – Enter Catman: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NIlE6nI8SI8

I hope that this at least makes you smile if nothing else!!

    1. that Sunset Vipers is more than good enough….wow, man….that stuff is moving a lot faster than I think we expected…nothing wrong with that tune

    2. ….so I listened to that Kings of the Alley thing again…and I tell ya, it kind of implodes on itself…I hear these weird stylistic blips going in the song that shouldn’t be there…like how it just forgets that main riff, which is its strongest part…and does this electronica stuff..it’s awful…can you imagine this stuff just making music to annoy you instead of some kind of catharsis, which is the point….these computers can just go off on their own and make this horrible taunting type stuff…

    3. Wow, D.J.H,

While that Sunset Vipers AI production, is quite generic (sounds like amalgamation of Foreigner with some Whitesnake and TNT thrown in for ballsy measure), I am sad to write, that I could see that being liked by quite a large number of people.

    4. I just left a message for Tony…..

Like I said in my original post, you can hear that it’s not real.

      Dana

The person using the programme may very well have referenced bands like Foreigner and Whitesnake to give the programme a basis for the sound. I saw a video by Rick Beato where he used a particular programme where he told it to write a song and gave it some reference points. From that, it wrote a song – complete with lyrics, music and vocals.

What I would really like to know is, has anyone watched the others links I provided? Rattlehead I know will love MegaCat (Especially when he see’s Dave Catstaine up front!)

    5. All good, my friend – all good.

I’m just glad that somebody could also hear what I could.
