Hard to beat that setlist but it would be cool if he threw in Me Wise Magic.
I saw the 1984 tour. It was incredible!! The sound was great. I also saw the Balance tour and one other with Sammy. I never cared for the newest release from VH with Dave. The sound is terrible and it did not sound like VH. VH 3 I liked better. The live album with Dave on it is a joke and I think that’s why they never released a blue ray of the concert with it. I own it but tried to play it a couple of times and it almost ended up in the trash can. At this point I am only interested in deluxe versions of the great releases but don’t think we will ever see any due to nobody getting along.
I wish they would release, the entire concert filmed at the Oakland Coliseum Stadium in ’81.
Love how Roth misses coming in, and they have loop around, proves it is really live 🙂
Van Halen – Unchained (Official Music Video)-Oakland Coliseum Stadium in ’81
Roth didn’t create his own swagger…..he stole it….from Jim Dandy of Black Oak Arkansas fame…..he is the original ” Hot ‘N Nasty” with a “Hot Rod”….
Yes, but Roth is WAY more famous (I had to look Dandy up). Also, in Roth‘s VH days, IMHO, he was way HOTTER (and also the first long haired, blonde singer, I was ever attracted to).
Facially, in the stills that I perused online, Dandy, in his heyday, reminds me, of a less attractive, Ted Poley of Danger Danger. Right now, I am too lazy to watch a video, to see if that bears him any more justice.
But I will end, by stating, long live those beautiful, long haired, blondes rockers. IMHO, in his youth, John Sykes (RIP) being the “fairest of them all.” 😉
Dave definitely took some stuff from Jim dandy, but Dave went way beyond dandy , his charisma and moves, including his jump of the riser were the coolest thing about roth and van halen eddie was ridiculously great on guitar so it was tough who to focus in on –
Robert,
Despite his antics, and shtick, what I always found interesting about Roth, is what a renaissance man he is: his sword moves, interest in Japanese culture, living in Japan, being an EMT in NY, rock climbing, etc., etc.. Roth is inspired and very interesting.
You are correct Dana…..Dandy was not a good looking dude…..kinda scary to be honest….and no one compares to the Syke man!!!
For agreeing with me, about the sadly, late, beautiful Sykes, you get a bunch of stars ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️.
