David Crosby is continuing his apology tour about his insensitive tweet(s) about the passing of legendary rock guitarist, Eddie Van Halen.
On October 21st, Crosby wrote on Twitter, “You will be happy to know that I am reliably informed by the younger members of my family that I am an old idiot and Van Halen was one of the [best] guitarists to have ever lived.”
After a Twitter follower told him that he “blew the Eddie Van Halen thing”, Crosby replied, “I did. He was an amazing guitarist but I didn’t know that. Truth is I never ever listened to that band so I was completely ignorant. No insult intended. I never listened to any of the big pop rock bands. I didn’t even own a Led Zep record and they could write.”
Van Halen tragically passed away on October 6th, after battling cancer.

In my opinion, this self proclaimed “idiot,” and who am I to argue(?), keeps digging a deeper hole for himself.
Why would you bother to comment, or have the temerity to voice an opinion about a band/guitarist, you have never even heard before? That is ludicrous.
Secondly, I believe that he is only continuing to apologize, because he has received such overwhelming displeasure from the masses, he had no choice.
There is no fool like an old fool.
PS-Who here believes that he NEVER heard Led Zeppelin? Show of hands.
Dana- as Mr T once said…I pity the fool.
Mr. Crosby must still be getting alot of flak for his comments (he should).
In the wise words of Matt Foley, Crosby needs to shut his big yapper.
This time should be about remembering Eddie not what comes out of Crosby.
So, he says, Eddie was a amazing guitaristand Zeppelin could write. Therefore, he must be an old idiot, because he is probably not a amazing guitarist, nor a writer and he is just jealous of all the attention Eddie is getting. When he is gone, people will just say David Crosby i forgot he was still around.
Charles, there are probably many people today that think Crosby died of an overdose a long time ago. And when that time comes and it is announced, people will respond with “Who???”
My guess is that he lived in his incestuous and insular hippie bubble, where everyone had the same opinions about everything, and was totally used to not having any statement challenged.
Speaking of “Fools,” Mr. Crosby, let me educate you. “Fools” is the 3rd song on Van Halen’s 3rd album – “Woman And Children First” from 1980, you do remember 1980, right? Mr. Crosby?
He would probably respond, “Who’s Van Halen> Hey kid get off my lawn!”
Or, ~ Hey (hey), you (you)
Get Off Of My Cloud! Crosby has been on cloud 9 for a very long time! – probably why he has never ever listened to “that band.” …and he calls himself a musician?
