SILVERTIDE ANNOUNCES REUNION PERFORMANCES

Silvertide-September-Shows.2.765x1125-696x1024 In the early part of the 21st century, Silvertide represented the next great American band to starved rock ‘n’ roll fans; touring across the globe and playing their own brand of dirty rock and blues to anyone who would listen. Their live shows become the stuff of legend, and in subsequent years, the band’s debut album, Show & Tell, has become a cult classic the world over. Before deciding to take a break in 2006, they scored such Top 20 rock radio hits as Ain’t Comin’ Home, Blue Jeans and Devil’s Daughter.

As part of their much-anticipated return to the stage, the original Silvertide lineup will perform two limited engagements at the infamous Machine Shop in Flint, Michigan. The first night will see the band performing Show & Tell in its entirety, while the second night will feature a mix of old songs, B-sides, rarities, and to the delight of long-time fans, new songs. All tickets are VIP, and include a meet-and-greet with the band after show. Tickets for both nights go on sale Saturday, July 13th.

Hailing from Philadelphia, Silvertide is comprised of lead singer Walt Lafty, lead guitarist Nick Perri, rhythm guitarist Mark Melchiorre, bassist Brian Weaver, and drummer Kevin Frank. Originally formed in 2001, the band achieved success straight away, with the 2004 release of their aforementioned debut — which has sold close to 400,000 copies worldwide.

And the group proved they could certainly deliver the goods on stage, as they spent the following three years (!) playing the world over, and opening for such renowned acts as Van Halen, Metallica, Motely Crue, ZZ Top, among countless others.

The group has also made its presence felt in film and videogames, as a pair of Bob Dylan covers (Maggie’s Farm and It Ain’t Me, Babe) were featured on the soundtrack to the M. Night Shyamalan film Lady In The Water, while their tune Blue Jeans was featured on the Rock Band videogame. The band is currently working on a new release with producer David Ivory.

CHEAP TRICK FILE A LAWSUIT AGAINST A CANADIAN MUSIC FESTIVAL

CheapTrick Erin Coulehan of Rolling Stone reports:

Cheap Trick have filed a $1 million lawsuit against the Ottawa Bluesfest for the stage collapse in 2011 that nearly killed the band. The band has accused the music festival of “putting economic considerations over safety” at the site’s main stage, which buckled during a storm.

The festival’s organizers allegedly failed to monitor weather conditions, and the band claims that the stability of the stage was never checked, reports the Guardian. They also argue that event staff were not properly prepared to handle an emergency.

Cheap Trick were halfway through their set at the festival in July 2011 when wind gusts of 73 mph began to sweep the stage, causing the structure to buckle. The band and crew made it off the stage, but three people required hospitalization after the incident, including Sandy Sanderson, a roadie who filed his own suit against the festival for gross negligence.

Cheap Trick are also seeking compensation from the companies who built the stage, sound and lighting rigs. A report from the Ontario Ministry of Labour found that the stage was designed to withstand winds of 74.5 mph but operators neglected to remove the necessary wind-walls. This omission “heightened the risk and increased the vulnerability to visitors, including Cheap Trick Touring,” according to the suit.

Cheap Trick are seeking $400,000 to repair and replace musical equipment, including guitars, amplifiers and drums, plus $600,000 for special damages that includes interim replacement equipment, labor, travel and services.

KING KOBRA POST VIDEO FOR “HAVE A GOOD TIME”

kingkobraband2013 King Kobra have released a video for the song Have A Good Time. Watch it below.

Have A Good Time comes off of King Kobra’s new album, II, which was released on July 9th through Frontiers Records.

“We chose to name this album II because it is both the second album of our reformation with Frontiers Records as well as the second generation of the band with Paul Shortino as lead vocalist,” says guitarist David Michael-Philips. “Paul’s unique style gives the band a new feel apart from what we were in the ’80s with original singer Mark/Marcie Free. I think the “re-boot” naming gives Paul the credit he deserves while paying homage to our original singer and sound.”

II tracklisting includes:

Hell On Wheels
Knock ‘Em Dead
Have A Good Time
The Ballad Of Johnny Rod
Take Me Back
When The Hammer Comes Down
Running Wild
The Crunch
Got It Comin’
Deep River
Don’t Keep Me Waiting
We Go Round
