12/3: COSTA RICA BOUND, UPDATE ON ALL KINDS OF STUFF, YEAR END SPECIALS, MORE, READ!

Headed to San Jose Costa Rica for the first time ever tomorrow. I’ll be hosting a metal festival there this weekend that includes Overkill, Dio Disciples and many many more over three days. This is the second time this year I have been able to get outside the USA and meet TMS fans in other parts of the world. Brazil was a blast in October and look forward to meeting the fans of Costa Rica this weekend!

Thanks to all who came out to my signing with Mike Portnoy this past Saturday in Hellertown PA. Great crowd and we stayed an extra hour to give everyone time. To those who waited outside in cold temps we do appreciate it and thank you for coming! Next signing is before the TMS Christmas party at Dingos Den in Clifton NJ 12/14 7:30-9P. NO admission for the book signing. The TMS party starts at 9 across the street at Dingbatz after the book signing. Hope to announce more signings soon, just time and schedule. In the meantime you can get both of my books physical or digital anywhere books are sold. If you want a signed copy of VOL 2 follow the directions on the site to order books and just specify with the order what volumes you would like and I’ll get them out before Christmas.

I’ll be in LA to host the first live show from Jake E Lee’s Red Dragon Cartel 12/12 at The Whiskey.

Thanks to Wall Street Rocks for having me host their event last night to benefit various military charities. Was an honor. Good to see Mark McGrath and have my good friend Mike Piazza out to hang as well.

AA Members of this site now get the last 3 weeks of radio shows to listen to On Demand. Membership makes a great affordable holiday gift. And don’t forget all the items in my online store are on sale now through the end of the year!

Here are the annual year end radio specials for 2013. The days listed are for the first airing on Q104.3 NYC. As usual all shows then air on the affiliates at the dates and times posted for those stations on the site. Q104.3 show is Friday’s 11P-2A ET and can be streamed free at www.q1043.com or with the free iheartradio app:

12/13: Priest/Maiden/Rush show! First time ever for this one. An hour of each band in all 3 hours of the show. 3 of the most loved but underplayed bands all in one special.

12/20: The Original Merry KISSmas special. After doing this show for well over 20 years and screaming about Kiss not being in the R&R Hall, let’s hope this is the LAST time I am doing it that they aren’t! You know the drill, the one time a year I do nothing but a full show of Kiss, all eras! As I have ALWAYS said I will always be a Kiss fan regardless of my OPINION on certain things. As usual I am proud to do this yearly show for over two decades now celebrating what I have always loved most about the band and what is rarely played outside of a couple songs on radio, the music.

12/27: The Year In Review. Always do this one, very important to spotlight the new music I dealt with on the show from 2013. As a big supporter of new music as well this is a good chance to rediscover stuff you may have missed.

SiriusXM show recorded this Monday and next due to travel.

I’ll update here again when I have time. Follow on Twitter @EddieTrunk and Facebook/eddietrunk for more from Costa Rica and more.

TMS ticket links posted for new shows here when I get it from VH1. New shows start taping from NYC 1/14 and airing 1/18!

ZAKK WYLDE ANNOUNCES “AN EVENING WITH ZAKK WYLDE” CANADIAN TOUR

blacklabelsocietyband2013 Guitar icon Zakk Wylde, leader of Black Label Socieity has announced An Evening With Zakk Wylde, a solo 13-city tour across Canada featuring intimate versions of some of the band’s most popular songs, as well as songs from Wylde’s best-selling solo album Book of Shadows and Southern rock band Pride & Glory (see dates below).

“This is a special Thank You to the Canadian fans for making Ain’t No Sunshine Top 20 people!” said Wylde. “I love Canada! They always welcome BLS and are so supportive. To do a more intimate, stripped down show, especially in cities where you’re so embraced – is just the ultimate. You can take a song that you’ve played thousands of times, rearrange it and suddenly its something totally fresh and new. Acoustically, the songs are just as powerful and heartfelt. Even transposing them and performing them on piano, they are no less raw and familiar.”

Zakk also has a special message to his Canadian fans: “Thanks to the Canadian chapter of the almighty Black Label for the success of Unblackened and the single, Ain’t No Sunshine!!! I am looking forward to an special evening with our Canadian family.”

Black Label Society have established themselves at the forefront of Heavy Metal with a series of hard riffing and hugely successful albums alongside worldwide tours that have cemented their reputation as one of the most powerful live bands of their generation. On September 23rd, 2013, the band released the 2-CD set Unblackened, finding Black Label Society in a mellower mood in a performance taped at Club Nokia in Los Angeles earlier this year. The concert showcases the band’s songs with a greater use of acoustic instruments but without losing any of their power and intensity. Zakk Wylde leads from the front as always, performing here on both guitar and piano and demonstrating the subtler side of his music alongside the blistering solos that his fans know and love.

For over 20 years he served as Ozzy Osbourne’s guitarist, a collaboration that produced a string of multi-platinum albums, including Osbourne’s biggest selling album No More Tears (Wylde wrote all of the music) and Ozzmosis. He has won nearly every guitar award imaginable, and is a major influence on a new battalion of rock guitarists currently popular today.

The last few years have seen Wylde’s life radically altered. Doctors recently discovered blood clots in his leg. “The doc was like, ‘you have, what, a drink a day? Six? 12? A case?’ I’m like, ‘It’s a liquid diet,’” says Wylde, laughing. “I mean, I’d drink beer while lifting weights. That’s Black Label Society style for you right there. But the doc told me if I kept this up, I’d be dead by the time I was 50. So I stopped drinking. No big deal.”

Bring on the Canadian tour, then.

RANDY RHOADS BIRTHDAY CELEBRATION ON DECEMBER 6TH-7TH FEATURES AN OPEN HOUSE & LIVE MUSIC BY SURPRISE GUESTS

randyrhoads300 Come celebrate the late, great Randy Rhoads birthday with his family this week at Kathy Rhoads D’Argenzio and her husband Richard D’Argenzio’s wine tasting room in Burbank.

The Randy Rhoads Birthday Tribute weekend starts Friday, December 6th and ends Saturday, December 7th – open from 4pm to 9pm daily. This will be a weekend to remember for all fans and friends alike. You will get to meet members of the Rhoads family, taste the Randy Rhoads wine, rock out to live music and see personal memorabilia that has not been shown for public viewing.

A special note from the Rhoads family:

“The Rhoads family wishes to thank you all for all the heartfelt support and love for Randy. We also thank you for keeping his memory alive.

Happy Birthday to my loving son and our dear brother.

Delores Rhoads, Kelle Rhoads and Kathy Rhoads D’Argenzio”

Randy Rhoads is best known for his tour of duty with Ozzy Osbourne and his band, then known as The Blizzard of Ozz. Once Rhoads had officially joined, the band headed into the studio to record their debut album, titled Blizzard of Ozz. Propelled by Rhoads’ neo-classical guitar work, the album was an instant hit with rock fans, particularly in the USA. They released two singles from the album: Mr. Crowley and the hit Crazy Train. Rhoads left us March 19th, 1982 in a tragic plane crash leaving us a huge void in music. His legacy of brilliant music will live forever in the hearts of the people – He was a true hero and legend.

Please join us December 6th through December 7th and pay respects to Randy Rhoads and his family for his birthday at the:

D’Argenzio Tasting Room
1204 W. Burbank Blvd
Burbank, CA 91506
818 846 8466

Plus more new Jake E Lee music and tons of tickets to see Michael Schenker in the NYC/NJ area. I’ll also announce the year end FM radio show specials soon.

ANTHRAX’S SCOTT IAN TO RELEASE AN AUTOBIOGRAPHY CALLED “I’M THE MAN” NEXT YEAR

scottian650 Anthrax guitarist Scott Ian has announced that he will release an autobiography.

“Why a book? Because I think my story can connect with anyone and, if I was able to make the life I wanted for myself happen, then anyone can,” says Ian. “I’m really excited to be writing a book because the idea of getting forty-something years of stuff out of my brain and onto the page seems very therapeutic. Plus, if I didn’t do it now, I’d start forgetting and wouldn’t be able to share all these killer stories with you, my friends!”

Titled I’m The Man, Ian’s memoirs will be released through Da Capo Press next year and will explore the guitarist’s unbelievable rise from a “nerdy Jewish boy in Queens, New York” to one of the most respected metal guitarists of all time.
