AC/DC FRONTMAN BRIAN JOHNSON SAYS THAT THE BAND WILL BE ENTERING A CANADIAN STUDIO IN MAY

BrianJohnson AC/DC will reportedly be entering a studio in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada in May, reports blabbermouth.net.

The news was revealed on Friday, February 14th by the band’s lead singer, Brian Johnson, during a surprise phone call he gave to Andy Preston of the 98.7 The Gater radio station in West Palm Beach, Florida.

Asked if AC/DC is planning to do anything this year, Johnson told Preston: “Well, you’ll be the first one to know, really, because we’ve been denying anything, ’cause we weren’t sure. One of our boys was pretty ill, so we didn’t like to say anything, and we’re very private about things like this, so we didn’t wanna say anything. And he’s a very proud man. But I think we’ll be going into the studio in May in Vancouver. Which means, we should be getting ready. It’s been 40 years of the band’s existence, so I think we’re gonna try to do 40 gigs, 40 shows, to thank the fans for their undying loyalty. I mean, honestly, our fans are just the best in the world, and we appreciate every one of them. So, like I said, we’ll have to go out, even though we’re getting a bit long in the tooth. [laughs]”

He added: “You know what?! It’s been four years [since we last went out on the road], and I’m really looking forward to it.”

Listen to audio Brian Johnson’s interview below.

AC/DC’s lastest release was 2008’s Black Ice.

2/14: LIVE Q104.3 TONIGHT, PAUL STANLEY HOF COMMENTS, MEXICO CITY, MORE.

After feeling like hell the last couple weeks finally went to the Dr today to see what was up. Some sinus infection so he gave me the ole Z Pack to knock it out. He also told me a new study pretty much says almost all vitamins (including C for cold season) are a waste of money! Can we all get our money back? I swear it is impossible to do the right thing it seems! Regardless I will be back live tonight on Q104.3 NYC 11P-2A ET. Join me for music, talk, news and more, plus lot’s of giveaways. Listen at www.q1043.com or use the free iHeartradio app outside NYC area.

Interesting interview just posted in this sites news section with Paul Stanley on the HOF. I must say he makes many valid points about the Hall in general and I give him credit for speaking out that forcefully on the eve of his own induction. This is one instance where I agree with Paul. Kiss was snubbed for 15 years. This is something I’m sure the HOF (and I know some of their voters) still wish was not happening. Us fans feel this is important, but it is truly a joke if you look at the process and the rules as I have been saying for years. But if they are showing up, and it is only the original lineup (which it is being inducted), let’s hope it is done with the proper respect to that band. I am NOT looking for any original Kiss reunion, but I think MOST fans would agree it’s not asking for too much for a song or two one last time with Ace, Peter, Gene & Paul. We shall see soon. Some news has to come out very soon one way or the other because tickets are about to go on sale and fans will want to know exactly what they are buying and seeing that night no doubt. Let’s also not lose sight of the fact that for us Kiss is the story here. But in reality there are several other bands going in and for the HOF Kiss is likely viewed as a necessary evil here unfortunately. I assure you they are internally more excited about Springsteen’s band or Nirvana in truth. More very soon I’m sure..

Speaking of Kiss, they are one of many bands playing in Mexico City next month at the Hell & Heaven Fest. I was just brought on by the promoter to appear at this event both days. I am not going for interviews or media or TMS. I am going to do some fan meet & greets, stage announces and whatever else the promoter asks of me for the weekend. Whatever my personal feelings about Kiss now, or any band for that matter are, they have nothing to do with an event like this. I didn’t make the lineup and it is not about what I think. I am there to be a pro for the promoter, meet fans, and whatever else may come up. If you are going hope to see you. More news when I have it.

Hope you enjoy the all new TMS tomorrow night 11/10C on VH1C.

Me, Don & Jim live on stage 8P tomorrow night at Starland Ballroom in Sayreville NJ. I will be selling and signing both books and have merch for sale as well pre and post show. These are live stand up shows, NOT TMS tapings. It’s almost sold out but hope to see you there.

Have a good weekend, happy Valentine’s day.

DRUMMER DAVE LOMBARDO DISCUSSES HIS FORMER BANDMATES SAYING, “IF IT WEREN’T FOR ME, SLAYER WOULD NOT EXIST”

davelombardo Mark Ashby of Planet Mosh spoke with former Slayer drummer Dave Lombardo about his relationship with former bandmates. Excerpts from the interview appear below.

Planet Mosh: How does [Lomardo] look back on what happened [with Slayer] and how it was handled?

Dave Lombardo: This could have been an easy fix. I wasn’t asking for anything other than to be treated equally. I’m sure I’ve made mistakes along the way, but my intention was never to leave. Who would do that in the golden years of a band? Where we stand now disgusts me. [Deceased guitarist] Jeff [Hanneman] didn’t want this – and neither did I.

Planet Mosh: In a recent interview, Tom Araya described you as “a working member of the band” and said you weren’t a partner, how do comments like that sit with you, when you were a founding member of the band?

Dave Lombardo: It’s sickening. I left the band in ’92 to be at home for the birth of my son, period. One show changed the course of this band. Tom has forgotten history… swallowed the stories that have been created throughout the years to sell tickets. If it weren’t for me, Slayer would not exist. I approached Kerry to start this band. Somehow they have forgotten that.

Planet Mosh: Later in the same interview, he accuses you of “ranting” on Facebook, and says you published stuff which was “legally binding and private,” do you regret any of what you said at the time?

Dave Lombardo: No. My “ranting” on Facebook still stands because it’s accurate.

Planet Mosh: How would you describe your relationship with Tom and Kerry these days?

Dave Lombardo: Sadly, non-existent.

Planet Mosh: The death of Jeff Hanneman obviously hit you very hard, did you see him before he passed away, and, if you can, could you shed some light on what your relationship with him was like?

Dave Lombardo: I didn’t see Jeff for a few months before he passed, but we had many texts and phone calls right up until [then]. He really didn’t let anyone too close to his everyday life. But, when we spoke it was like no time had passed, a lot of laughter. I couldn’t ask for anything more than what my relationship was with Jeff. It was amazing.”

Planet Mosh: Were you surprised by the apparent coldness which your former bandmates, and especially [guitarist] Kerry [King], showed after Jeff’s death?

Dave Lombardo: I was shocked that Tom didn’t show up to the memorial. It was uncomfortable for me to be there, given what was going on with the band, but I still showed up. I was equally shocked at Kerry’s self-centred stories. None of his stories described the kind of human being Jeff was…

DOES PAUL STANLEY FEEL HONORED TO BE INDUCTED INTO THE ROCK HALL? KISS FRONTMAN SAYS “NO, [BUT] IT MEANS A LOT TO THE FANS”

kiss-return Classic Rock Magazine interviewed KISS frontman Paul Stanley about the Rock N’ Roll Hall of Fame. Read the interview below.

Classic Rock: Did you feel honored at being inducted in the Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame?

Paul Stanley: No, it was done begrudgingly and because it had become absolutely ludicrous that they were choosing to ignore us. At the end of the day most people don’t realize that the Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame was a privately created establishment and that it has a self-appointed board. It’s a perfect case of perception becoming reality. People heard “Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame” and gave it credibility. So whether it deserves the title has to be weighed against who it inducts. So was it an honor to be nominated? No. It means a lot to the fans and I understand it because it’s validation for them. So for that reason I accept graciously and accept on their behalf.

My feelings and my ambivalence about the Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame hasn’t changed any. Their attitude is elitist and it doesn’t reflect the public. It reflects a small group who dictate who meets the criteria that they set up as “rock and roll”. I’ve always felt the spirit of rock and roll meant not only ignoring your critics, but ignoring your peers and going your own way. I think we’ve done that pretty much with few exceptions for forty years. So that same criteria that kept us out has not gotten us in. I scratch my head a little and I also take issue with a certain arrogance within that group.

Nonetheless I look at some of the inductees and any club that has Jimmy Page, Eric Clapton and The Who and the Beatles and the Stones is company I don’t mind being in and my feelings have nothing to do with any of them, it purely has to do with a system which I think is tainted, corrupted and distorted.

Classic Rock: Are you looking forward to playing it?

Paul Stanley: Honestly, I have no plans at the moment to do anything, and that includes playing with Ace and Peter or anyone else. My plan at the moment is to go and accept the award. Anything else, we’ll see how it unfolds or unravels. It was interesting to me, or offensive to me, that when the question was broached with the hierarchy about inducting additional members it was shut down immediately as “a non starter,” which to me is arrogant. People who sit behind desks need to respect the people who are actually either inductees or possible inductees into this so-called hallowed organization. So the fact that there are 30 or 40 or 50 or some absurd number of Grateful Dead members all inducted, the fact that all of the Chili Peppers, including people who played on early albums that never amounted to very much are not inducted, the fact that John Rutsey, the drummer on the first Rush album is not inducted, the fact that Rob Trujillo, who’s a great guy but didn’t play on any of the classic Metallica albums, was inducted after being in the band six years makes me wonder exactly what are the rules? If the rules don’t apply to everybody then they’re not rules.

Classic Rock: Do you plan to bring Ace and Peter up on stage with you?

Paul Stanley: Of course it goes without saying that Ace and Peter deserve this moment in the spotlight. We wouldn’t be here without them. We couldn’t have built what we did without them at the foundation. That being said, we couldn’t have built what we built without a lot of people who followed them. We couldn’t have been here without them and we couldn’t be here today with them. So absolutely, of course they deserve and belong up there.

Classic Rock: Ace and Peter jammed together at recent party for That Metal Show presenter [and radio DJ] Eddie Trunk. How did you feel about that?

Paul Stanley: I didn’t feel one way or the other. I don’t own those songs, I only wrote ‘em. There’s nothing to guard or lock away. Those songs are public domain and they played on those songs so why wouldn’t they play them? For that matter, why wouldn’t anybody play them?
