Original KISS guitarist Ace Frehley was guest on Eddie’s April 27th episode of his Sirius/XM show, Trunk Nation, where he discussed working on new music during the Corona virus shutdown.
He said (via blabbermouth.net), “Because of this virus, everything has been pushed back. The release of my Origins Vol. 2 [the sequel to his 2016 collection of cover songs that inspired him] has been pushed back to the fall. I don’t wanna be too idle, so I decided to start recording my next studio record. What the hell?”
According to Frehley, Origins Vol. 2 was “done months ago” but there is no concrete release date.
“We’re talking about the end of the summer…We might put out a single earlier than that — during the summer. We’re talking about probably not till September. But that can change. Don’t quote me or anything. First it was the summer, then it was the end of the summer. Last I heard it was September. Everybody’s worried about their health. Health comes first, because without your health, you’ve got nothing.”
In the same interview, the guitarist also discussed his relationship with his former KISS bandmates and if he would ever consider reuniting with them onstage?
He stated, “I texted Paul [Stanley] and Gene [Simmons] last week and just wished them well, and Peter [Criss]. And I got a text from Doc [McGhee, KISS manager]. Everybody’s okay — thank God. Knock on wood. Eric Singer’s been sending me some silly texts [Laughs] ‘Cause me and Eric always got along really well on the road.”
“Everything’s cool,” he continued. “What’s gonna happen is gonna happen. But everything is delayed at this juncture, so who knows? … I’m doing my own thing. Unless they come forward and the price is right, you’re not gonna see me anywhere close by.”
Frehley’s latest album, Spaceman, was released in October 2018 via eOne. KISS bassist/vocalist Gene Simmons co-wrote two tracks on the disc, Without You I’m Nothing and Your Wish Is My Command, the latter of which also features Simmons’s bass playing.
As previously reported that Origins Vol. 2 would feature guest appearances by Lita Ford (on The Rolling Stones’ Jumpin’ Jack Flash), Cheap Trick’s Robin Zander (on Humble Pie’s 30 Days In The Hole, former KISS guitarist Bruce Kulick (on Jimi Hendrix’s Manic Depression, guitarist John 5 (on Beatle I’m Down and Cream’s Politician).
Released in April 2016, Origins Vol. 1 debuted at Number. 23 on The Billboard 200 with first-week sales of 16,000 equivalent album units. The CD featured KISS frontman Paul Stanley on Free’s hit Fire And Water; Slash trading leads on Thin Lizzy’s classic Emerald, Lita Ford singing and playing lead on The Troggs staple Wild Thing, John 5 on KISS’ Parasite, and Pearl Jam’s Mike McCready on KISS’s Cold Gin.

I love Ace, as he’s the one and only Spaceman for KI$$. I hate the current glorified tribute version of the band. But I know KI$$, as a Going Concern, don’t need Ace and Peter. Ace said previously he would reunite “for the fans”, but its always been about the money. The original KI$$ is my all time favorite band. I want Ace as the only Spaceman for KI$$. Many KI$$ fans, including Gene and Paul, think otherwise. Sadly, KI$$ may end without a reunion of the original four members.
I don’t think you will ever see the original band in a room together again. And for all of them it’s about money. None more than Gene who at least is honest about that
I don’t understand why Ace keeps pushing the narrative that “money” is the reason why he hasn’t done anything with Paul and Gene? It is blatantly obvious that Gene and Paul have no problem working with Ace in an “Ace” capacity, but they have NO intention of working with him in a KISS capacity. I thought that perhaps once the End of the Road tour ended that Paul and Gene would do a song or two on Ace’s forthcoming albums or maybe vice-versa, but I never believed Paul was going to let Ace anywhere near KISS.
G&P have been consistently saying in the press “they are welcome to come jam”. Which is ridiculous because we know it will only happen if a deal is made. P&G can certainly relate to that. Kiss is going to need to do something if they want to go back out. Last leg of tour far from full arenas and it will get tougher now with the virus and economy when things come back.. we’ll see.
Eddie – heard Gene is testing a Kiss Concert Body Condom so all Kiss concert goers can feel safe attending a Kiss concert. Available in Starchild – Demon – Spaceman – Catman models.
Prices: $499 with the price of a concert ticket / $649 without ticket
LOL!!!!!!!!!
For Ki$$, it is always about the money.
That said, Paul and Gene are easily worth more than $100m a piece. You would think “for the fans” they could open up their wallets just a little for a couple of dates on the tour and give the die hard fans a lasting memory.
So glad Ace and Gene made up so quickly after the allegations that Gene was inappropriate to Ace’s (former) fiancee.
Wish these three knuckle heads would take Peter’s cue and stay quiet.
genesraccoonwig, are you staying 6 feet away from gene’s head during the pandemic?
LOL!!!!!!!!!!!!!
EG: depends on how much hair glue that is slapped on my head each day.
genesraccoonwig- hair glue time again, you know its the only thing that keeps you and gene…together!
LOL!!! Is is from the Maxine Waters collection of wig glue?
Dana, Maxine nightingale and Roger waters are an item/mashup?
by the time concerts are actually deemed safe to go back to . and actually have large numbers of fans showing up feeling safe and comfortable going – forget kiss lip syncing… gene will be in his early 70’s paul will be 68 or 69 , they wont really physically be able to do much more than sway a little and walk back and forth…. it just seems completely pointless to continue their charade , who honestly would go see 70 year olds essentially just standing on stage lip syncing ??? seriously can anyone say they would want to see that from the once greatest band in the world ?? ..although very soon I have no doubt their will be protective masks with kiss make up printed on them ……..
Kiss will always be one of my favorites, regardless of how they act. I only wish they would go around once and retire. Their present configuration will never replace the original members and currently, the band continues as a tribute. Kiss has four iconic members some bands like Motörhead, and Type O negative, had one iconic singer. Once Lemmy, and Steele, died that was it for the bands. No continuing on. Also, I have seen the original KISS’ last “Farewell” tour, so I’m happy
