  1. for me , i was never a fan of steve miller, i was a hard rock metal guy, but i always liked the joker- and i like hearing ace sing it- it sounds better to me done ace’s way, almost every one uses auto tune in the studio these days. so that does not bother me at all. eddie is 100% correct when he says it’s really the only way to get any radio airplay- it seems like once you hit your 40’s it’s like the kiss of death for getting your music on mainstream radio.

  2. It’s funny….some people have way too much emotions & don’t have ANY perspectives….I really don’t have to give a definition of the word “Imposter” but Tommy & Eric…2 very talented & gifted musicians have been impersonating Ace Frehley & Peter Criss. Sonic Boom & Monster are just okay albums, absoutly nothing to re-listen to. There is zero demand for them to play anything off those 2albums during their shows…..The BEST KISS albums by far is the 70’s era….NUMBERS DONT LIE considering the demand from the fans to see those songs performed in concert & no albums after the 70’s era can compete with them. I could go on & on but Im going to give the ” Mercy Rule ” to a certain poster on this board because I’m sure he is a great person but he has (AGAIN) way to much emotion with very little perspective on certain KISS issues……….Joe in The Cuse

    1. Hmm, I wonder who you’re talking about Joe,
Could it be me? If so, go ahead and give it your best shot. Open up the floodgates of your best arguments and I will spend whatever time I have available replying to your–ahem, excellent arguments. Do me a favor–don’t wait until this story is five weeks old to respond to my posts just to get the last word in, lol!
Seriously though, I don’t take this as seriously as you say. This is a hobby of mine and I like to debate. Eddie’s comments bugged me a little, yes, but I do respect Eddie and love TMS. I think Eddie has been a little emotional about this whole thing. I responded back emotionally because I think some of his comments are too extreme. That is, they don’t take into consideration both sides and Eddie’s opinions ARE influential. He is highly respected by most rock musicians.
If you can’t handle what I say in my posts, don’t read them. I will read yours from time to time. I knew you would not be able to resists saying something Joe. You seem to need to have the last word.
I am sure YOU are a good person too. I seem to have unintentionally pushed your buttons, but I hope you’ll remember that this site is meant for debate and good conversations about our favorite rock bands. Sometimes it does get emotional, but I respect your right to have a different opinion, AND get emotional about it. I’m not going to get injured by your opinion, so go ahead and bring it.

    2. Mike B, the reason Eddie is highly respected by most musicians is because he’s the real deal, what you see is what you get without the B.S., he’s honest, and speaks his mind, which is why some people doesn’t like him, but that’s their problem. I don’t agree with everything Eddie says, and I’m sure he don’t agree with all my posts either, but that’s okay, that’s what debating and speaking your mind is all about. Later…:)

    3. Mike B….just have some perspective pal…..I see Eddie and a few others just get drilled….FRIVOLOUSLY I might add over s–t that is beyond stupid and really makes zero sense. And I say this with respect…..you aren’t stupid!! Eddie doesn’t know me & vice versa but he isn’t stupid either, very bright. I’m on a NFL blog with many ex-players like myself & we see Monday morning QB’s just come and yapp it up without any perspective. A fan stands for “FANATIC”….. they speak from their heart instead of their brain. Eddie Trunk is spot on with his reviews…..some of you just go crazy and that is where the “Meatball/Head” phrase comes into play. Gene Simmons throws up a disgraceful idiotic quote & I see idiots say (in so many words) ‘yeah Gene is right blah blah’….zerrrro perspective. If you want you are more than welcome to email me at [email protected]. Best in Health….ANNNND Wealth I might add…..Joe in The Cuse

    4. Joe,
I think if you go back and read all my posts, you will see that I have plenty of perspective–at least from my perspective /: I am sure you feel the same about your perspective. I try to be fair, but no’one is truly capable of pure objectivity. I understand Eddie’s points but think he aims too far in the in the opposite direction on some points. I am willing to meet halfway on some issues and I am not here trying to be a PR person for Kiss. I am just stating my honest opinions of the current lineup and other points of contention surrounding Kiss.
You may disagree and perhaps feel that I was attacking Eddie. Not at all–I have nothing but respect for Eddie and appreciate most of his viewpoints. IMO, the problem is that he’s sort of throwing the baby out with the bath water where Kiss is concerned in regard to the current lineup. I agree on many things: Gene comes across very insensitive with the delivery of his views sometimes. Paul has some issues with Eddie that seem unreasonable and unfair. Who can say? All I know is that Paul dodged questions about Eddie Trunk and TMS at one of his book signing events. My main issue is that many (including Eddie) continue to trash the last two Kiss albums. Even during his radio show a caller said he thought Monster was a great album and Eddie in essence said NO WAY! From my perspective, Monster is one of their best since Revenge.
I am not a fanatic–I do not have any Kiss merchandise (that’s another thing I don’t like–all the merchandise). I am only interested in the music. I don’t want the world to become Planet Kiss or something. I have a huge CD collection and Kiss is only a part of it.
Anyway, I think I speak mostly from my brain, and in the post responding to Eddie I used both: my heart and my brain. I am not unreasonable and why should I be? Its Kiss, not a religious or a political point of view that should effect the quality of our lives.
I appreciate some of your comments and I am glad you don’t think I’m stupid.
This thread is about Ace and his new album which I am look forward to hearing, but somehow Kiss and the current lineup came up again. You have to remember that Eddie’s reviews are just his perspective as a fan and not more valuable than anyone else’s. Once again, Eddie is great and I appreciate him and his show, but I must speak my mind when these issues come up and seem one sided.
Best in health and every aspect of your life to you as well Joe.

    5. More than fair enough Mike…..just a point & not my point, a local DJ who is a very good friend of mine told me yesterday ( he is a huge KISS fan & as I was telling him about Eddies site & these KISS threads) he told me …”If you mention any KISS member especially Gene Peter Paul & Ace they will always be stitched together. Now every person I know has always compared Aces’ albums to the current KISS albums because Ace Frehley was and always will be that very unique & most talented member of that band”. So Eddies review was spot on in regards to current KISS. He is doing the exact something as everyone else. Talk 2 u soon Mike…….and I really appreciated that post!! Joe in The Cuse

    6. Who me? I like them both! As a matter of fact, I almost like Kiss’ music from the 80’s as much as the 70’s, almost! 🙂

    7. Sorry Doug, I was talking to Joe,
My point is that Creatures is often considered one of Kiss best, but Animalize immediate sold more records when it came out–it went double platinum. Creature did not sell well. Joe said “numbers don’t lie”. True–but numbers don’t prove his point either.

    8. …also meant to add that I like Creatures way more than Animalize. For years I didn’t like that album. I am a bigger fan of 70’s Kiss than 80’s. Revenge is one of my all time favorites (after Guns N’ Roses Use Your Illusions I and II).

    9. Creatures is a great album. Really is. I love the 80’s albums also. Those were great times…….Nothing like growing up in the 70’s though, that era of music is the soundtrack of my life…..Joe in The Cuse

  3. The next Kiss: Billy, Ricky, Dave, & Steve!
Not bad at all, I think Ace should cover Rock n Roll Hoochie Koo.
They said Sonic Boom & Monster were the best. Well they do have some descent songs, Say Yeah is the worst song ever! Yet 95% of the set list is all 70’s songs.
It’s all about the $$, $1250 for a meet & greet, they must laugh at the fans!

  4. Love your version better than the original Ace! The guitar solo really freshens the song up and makes it current. Can’t wait for the album release! Saw Ace on The Tonight Show and totally kicked ass! By the way when was the last time Paul Stanley was asked to sit in with the band? Oh yeah, never! Cuz his playing sucks! Have a nice day!

    1. Sitting in with the band ? Isn’t that what is done when the artist isn’t big enough to book on the show and get a real interview ?
