John Sykes was a towering figure in hard rock and heavy metal, best known for his electrifying guitar work and powerful songwriting during his time with Whitesnake in the mid-1980s. Born in Reading, England, Sykes first rose to prominence with Tygers of Pan Tang before joining Thin Lizzy, where his blistering tone and melodic sensibility helped reinvigorate the band and contributed to the classic Thunder and Lightning era.

John Sykes achieved global fame as a core architect of Whitesnake’s multi-platinum 1987 self-titled album, co-writing and recording many of its most iconic tracks. His aggressive yet melodic guitar style, fused with arena-ready hooks, became a defining sound of the era and influenced generations of rock and metal guitarists. Following his departure from Whitesnake, Sykes continued to carve his own path with Blue Murder and as a solo artist, earning a reputation as a fiercely independent and uncompromising creative force.

Prior to his passing in 2025, John recorded four tracks working toward a new album with Golden Robot Records which are being released posthumously as a special EP, offering fans a final glimpse into the artistry of one of rock’s most formidable talents.
