Following on the heels of many bands, Metallica have released a video of them playing Blackened under quarantine.

The footage appeared on the band’s social media channels accompanied by the message, “Here’s a little something we cooked up over the last few days. Hope you’re all safe & sound. Have a great weekend.”

Blackened, originally featured on the band’s 1988 album ...And Justice For All. It was the only track from the album to feature a writing credit for then-new bassist Jason Newsted.

  1. So many bands posting this at home stuff on social media even awful local bands posting awful versions of cover songs then asking for tips via pay pal etc. I don’t want to see that crap- I don’t want to see Metallica do it , U2 , Paul Stanley who sounds vocally really terrible, I’d rather listen to my album collection until things get back to normal –

That’s funny as all hell to me. \mm/ Note to self: Don’t watch crappy cover bands on line. Lol

Is it this way for you cause it’s our new reality or you just think it’s lame, in general? I’ll admit it’s a catch-22.

    2. Agree Robert – I might be persuaded to tip if an artist put on a show covering deep tracks etc.

    3. I agree Robert. It’s allright if any musician wants to do a video performance just to give their fans something, but I wouldn’t want to hear all the messages that will probably come with it.
“Wash your hands, Stay at home, social distance, social distance.”
I know all of that. I would like a performance to be an escape not more messages, especially from some of the acts I’ve listened to over the years.
Yes I would rather listen to what I have, and if live music can’t return as a truly live and shared experience, then so be it. I wouldn’t want some substitute.

  2. Tasker,
I think it’s lame in general i’ll Own that – lol
Also I believe towards the end of summer we will start seeing things getting more normal- but right now in our “ new normal “ if your a local band putting up a video for your fan base and asking for a tip … please try and sing in key for f—-k sake and make an effort –
