ROCK HALL ADDS DRUMMER MIKKEY DEE, AND PHIL CAMPBELL, AS INDUCTEES SHOULD MOTÖRHEAD MAKE THE 2020 CLASS

As previously reported, Motörhead has been announced as one of the bands up for inducted into the 2020 Rock N’ Roll Hall of Fame.

However, the only members up for induction were Lemmy Kilmister, Fast’ Eddie Carke and Phil ‘Philthy Animal’ Taylor were named, leaving out the rest of the musicians who played a part in creating Motorhead’s legacy.

Drummer Mikkey Dee told Billboard he thought it was pure wrong” for the Rock Hall to exclude himself and guitarist Phil Campbell, saying, “We did 25 years out of the 40.”

He added, “The original band lasted just a few years. They started it off, but as Lemmy said himself, they wouldn’t have lasted another six months doing that lineup.

“I don’t think we would’ve been where we are today without the 25 years we spent touring.”

But after fans made their objections known, The Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame has now added both Dee and Campbell to the lineup – although they’ve stopped short of adding any other members of Motörhead.

A message on the band’s social media channels reads: “Thanks to everyone who spoke up loudly. Thanks to The Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame for listening and adding Phil and Mikkey. All for one and one for all!”

Motörhead were named alongside Judas Priest, Thin Lizzy, Soundgarden, T-Rex, MC5, Nine Inch Nails, Pat Benatar, Todd Rundgren, Depeche Mode, Dave Matthews Band, The Doobie Brothers, Kraftwerk, Whitney Houston, The Notorious B.I.G. and Rufus featuring Chaka Khan.

The Class Of 2019 was Def Leppard, The Cure, Stevie Nicks, Radiohead, Roxy Music, The Zombies and Janet Jackson who were all named in March this year.

The 2020 Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame induction ceremony will be held at the Public Auditorium in Cleveland, Ohio, on May 2, 2020, with the final selection of artists set to be announced early next year.

  1. That’s great, but all for naught.
Though deserving, no way Motorhead is getting in.
Not with the likes of Kraftwerk, Whitney Houston, The Notorious B.I.G. and Rufus featuring Chaka Khan taking spots from ROCK AND ROLL. The inept committee will force diversity down our throats.
Rock, especially hard rock/metal, will get shafted once again!

    1. John Sykes (not the musician I LOVE, but the President of Entertainment Enterprises for iHeartMedia and co-founder of MTV) will be the new chairman of the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame starting January 1st. Jann Wenner will remain on the board, but it remains to be seen if new boss, will be the same as the old boss.

  2. Well, that’s one RRHOF “wrong” that’s now been “righted”….good for Dee and Campbell. And later this week, the albums “Overkill” and “Bomber” will be re-released to celebrate their 40th anniversary. Dang, where does the time go??!!!
