5/28: BACK FROM ROCKLAHOMA, GLENN HUGHES IN STUDIO, MORE.

Hope everyone is having a good week. Busy playing catch up from being away. I can tell you Glenn Hughes and Andrew Watt from California Breed will be live in studio with me this Friday on Q104.3 show. Listen live starting 11P ET via www.q1043.com or use the free iHeartradio app. Really loving this bands new album and also look forward to seeing them at The Gramercy in NYC this Saturday night.

Before Cal Breed show I also will be hitting the Bonzo Bash for a bit at Bergen PAC in NJ. Tickets for both of these shows will be given away on Q104 show Friday night for my NYC based audience.

Rocklahoma was a blast. Had a chance to see Kyng live for the first time. Really really good! Exciting to see some great new music from new bands out there and these guys are among the ones leading the charge for me. Thanks to all the great fans and many cool bands I saw and hung with over the weekend.

Next live gigs with Don and Jim are June 6th on Providence and June 7th in Chicopee MA. Info on the home page of the site on all confirmed appearances. More soon.

  1. Is Andrew Watt a shredder like R. Kotzen and Bonamassa, or more of a singer/songwriter guitarist? I can’t tell from the you tubes I’ve seen.

    1. Todd, Joe and Ritchie couldn’t be MORE different. Joe is NOT a shredder. He’s a blues guy/songwriter. Apples and oranges. Yes, he can rip, but he doesn’t come from, say, old school LA.

  2. Hey Eddie, I hope you were able to enjoy Tom Keifer’s set. We saw him open for Sammy Hagar in Oklahoma last fall and he was really outstanding! I mentioned to my wife that even if it was just Keifer playing that show, without Hagar closing it out, it would have been well worth seeing. His voice was in top shape, he had a great set list of Cinderella, solo, and covers, and it was just a great show.

  3. I think Dee just wanted it to make it known loudly to the festival organizers, which is a different group than when TS closed out the festival in 2007 & 2009 (when it was mostly an 80s hard rock revival), that while they knew what they were getting into (as Eddie said), they felt slighted (however, he then immediately thanked the guy who now runs the festival). In 2010 the event owners hired a company to save the festival and they added newer bands to the event. It’s now bigger than ever. My favorite year was 2008, but as a business owner myself, I understand why they did what they did and it’s still a hell of a lot of fun and I’ll be back next year. One bit of advice for anyone who may read this…. the Deftones SUCK! I unfortunately sat through their painful, noise addled set and by the second song I wished I was actually deaf. Worst Rocklahoma performance of all-time (Staind in 2011 is second worst, which is why I knew to head back to the campgrounds to get the party going early, rather than sit through that snore-fest again.) BRING ON JUDAS PRIEST FOR ROK 15!!!!

    1. I thought Deftones were awesome on Friday! So good that I wanted to end the night on a high note and completely miss FFDP. The other one I could have done without on Friday was Killswitch Engage. It allowed for quality drinking time in the Groupie tent.

  4. My one major beef with the festival was when they played the National Anthem. I think their (organizers) heart was in the right place to honor the military who gave their lives in defense of our country. However Killer Dwarfs were banging away in the Retrospect tent while the Anthem was being played thru the main stage PA. If they do this next year, please (as long as you are invited back to host) let them know to delay the start or coordinate a pause in the tent to not play while the Anthem is played.
