3/15: BOB EZRIN AND 41 YEARS OF KISS DESTROYER, MORE

Fun radio show today celebrating the 41st anniversary of Kiss Destroyer, my first true hard rock album and the album that set me on my path of music. Had many great calls and I was truly honored when Bob Ezrin called in to give his thoughts. My first time speaking with Bob (who was sitting at the piano he co-wrote and played “Beth” on while talking to me!). Bob was in studio with Alice Cooper so we didn’t have a ton of time, but we have a plan to do a career spanning interview at some point soon. Thanks for all the calls and thanks Bob Ezrin! Like all of my daily shows you can hear it replay tonight 9-11P ET on SiriusXM channel 106. Then starting tomorrow On Demand on the SiriusXM app. Tomorrow Nancy Wilson of Heart is my guest. Live 2-4P ET.

Love that Priest is working with Andy Sneap and Tom Allom. Allom actually did some recent live stuff with Priest also. I liked the last Priest album, but didn’t love the production. So this should be great!

Watched Aerosmith live at Donnington last night on Blu Ray. Amazing how great this band still is, and still all original. Savor the last years we still have these guys. A true rarity and they don’t make them like this anymore.. can’t wait for US shows!

Great reviews from UFO/Saxon tour. I’ll see it in NYC and maybe PA. Can’t wait.

  1. Destroyer sounds just as good today, whether it be on vinyl, 8-track, cassette or CD, (I have ’em all, but vinyl still my fave) as it did on March 15th, 1976, thanks Bob! 🙂

  2. DESTROYER still rocks, after all these years. “King of the Nightime World” and “Sweet Pain” are my two favorite tracks on that album. It wasn’t my first KISS record, though. ROCK AND ROLL OVER was my first KISS record, and is still my favorite KISS record to this day! There isn’t a weak song on that one!

  3. First rock album I bought with my allowance. Great album front to back God of Thunder part of my top five songs of all time as well as album covers. Still have the vinyl

  4. Peter Criss is officially a co-writer of the song. But there are different accounts of who actually contributed. There is no mystery as to who Beth is- Peter Criss was in a band called Chelsea prior to joining KISS. One of the other band members in Chelsea had a wife named “Becky” who called the studio often to check on her husband. The song was written as “Beck” by Peter Criss and Chelsea guitarist Stan Penridge, then subsequently re-titled “Beth” for the KISS recording. The account of who was responsible from changing the name from “Beck” to “Beth” is, again, disputed.
