Headed to Los Angeles tomorrow for what will be a short but busy week. Monday I will do my SiriusXM show as usual live 2-4P ET from the LA studios on 106. My guest will be Rival Sons guitarist Scott Holiday. The new RS album is amazing! The best newer rock band out there now for sure in my view (along with The Struts, who lean a bit more pop). Monday night I will attend the premiere of Motley Crue’s The Dirt along with the post party. Tuesday is the big LA Invasion from The Rainbow. Listen live 6-8P Pacific/9-11P ET on 106 Volume. Guests will be Nikki Sixx, Tommy Lee and cast members from the film. This should be a HUGE show! If you are in S CA admission to attend is free, but it is first come first served as capacity permits. So I would get there early! No tickets or list, just first in gets a spot while space permits. Wednesday I’ll do the show live from the studio 2-4P ET as usual then fly home to NJ. Keep up with all the action on Twitter @EddieTrunk

Next top 20? Billy Joel! JUST KIDDING, Dana! (Ducking) …just kidding! 😉 Cheers!! 🙂
But Mr. Rampage, we’re over here at the Trunk Report…we can get away with stuff over here..unless Ed gets wise to us…Ed has deleted a few of my posts that were these pretentious (?) philosophical insights into Ronnie’s lyrics…he must’ve agonized over it too “should I delete this?” LOL!!
Doug, I looked for you over here to present another new song, and it’s pretty darn ok to pretty darn good…Don Felder is just too good of a musician and an artist to put out a bad song…https://www.facebook.com/donfeldermusic/videos/408641149902975/
I think it’s a lot better than Nugent’s new material…I mean, Felder might actually be a musical genius to some extent…do I hear Dana’s footsteps rumbling this way? Did I just invoke the wrath of…Dana?
(half those songs don’t belong on any list….but, goodness, no Public Enemy #1??)
Nice list, Doug! For me, i would put the entire Too Fast For Love album (The Leather Mix version) songs on it, which would include the songs Stick to Your Guns and Toast of the Town.
Thanks, Ratt! 😉 I like Stick and Toast, but just not enough to make my Crue top 20. I know not everybody likes the later 80’s Crue, but I do! It’s not as rough and raw as the first 2 Crue’s, but that’s ok with me. Hey, bro, tomorrow 3/18 on the History Channel, 9 pm, American Pickers! We finally get to see Aerosmith’s original touring van restored!! Mike & Frank put alot of money into it, but this is rock ‘n’ roll history! Looks like Aerosmith will be there to check it out as well, can’t wait for this episode! – Pick This Way, and right before that, (in case you missed it) is last week’s episode at 8 – Rock ‘n’ Roll Heaven! Wether you’re a member of the Blue Army or not, every rock fan should check it out, it’s history, restored! 😉
I made this playlist for my car Doug:
Heavy Metal (Takin’ a Ride)
Gimme Shelter
Synchronicity II
Eye to Eye (Asia)
You Give Me All I Need (Scorpions)
You Won’t Change Me (Sabbath)
Mean Street
Until It Sleeps
You Never Give Me Your Money (Beatles)
Whip It
Sports Fan (The Tubes)
Pressure
You’ve Got Another Thing Comin’
Something (Beatles)
Heart and Soul (Huey Lewis)
Forever Man (Clapton)
What? No Highway Star?? Heavy Metal (Takin’ A Ride) is 1 of my favorite songs of all time! (I know, I have alot of those) 😉 Felder never gets enough credit for his work with the Eagles. Anyway, Rock You is good, (how could it not be with Hagar, Satriani & Weir) but I don’t think I’d compare it to The Music Made Me Do It, not yet. Maybe after a few more listens, we’ll see. The good thing about posting in the Trunk Report is your posts will stay on the home page for weeks (usually) as opposed to a day or two in the music news, dude, do I have to explain everything? So, just out of curiosity, where’s your Crue top 20? Your car playlist is pretty good, later on after the cobwebs have cleared, I might do one of those as well! Oh yeah, don’t blame the Mets for stealing Piazza from the Dodgers, the Marlins stole him first, albeit for only a week! 😉
Doug, the Crue formula is to write songs that are passable and work well live so they can do their big show and live out their rock and roll fantasies and do lots of drugs and have sexual athletic events with women…they never created great music, and sure, rock and roll isn’t supposed to be good anyway, but they make Tom Petty look like Ludwig Von Beethoven pretty much. I mean I NEVER play their records….they’re better than Krokus…maybe as good as Ratt or better..?? and probably a bit better than Quiet Riot was….but there are so many bands that made better records…the definition of filler is half of a Crue record…and Kiss, unfortunately, went that same direction too….then you gotta bring up Piazza. 🙂
No, not better than Ratt, they have/had DiMar.
Ratt over Crue, Tom Petty over just about everybody, and rock & roll isn’t supposed to be good? How much green beer did you drink yesterday? 😉 Shannon, you should’ve been a music critic, you nitpick and analyze the hell out of everything! Motley is Motley, what you see is what you get, no more no less, of course most of their songs are about sex, drugs and rock & roll, they’re Motley F–king Crue, dude! If I want deep intelligent songwriting I’ll listen to the great Tom Petty, or Springsteen, or, nevermind, (I promised Dana I wouldn’t mention his name anymore!) 😉 I don’t like every song the Crue ever made, in fact, IMO, some of their songs absolutely suck!! But you have to take the good with the bad, welcome to the Theatre Of Pain!
I like the first record for it’s uncanny film noir creepy vibe, then the cartoon Shout at the Devil works, Too Young to Fall in Love is a really good song….after that, they made some records that I would never own…I actually think Generation Swine is their best record. Nikki did get better with age.
There are some good songs on Generation Swine, but I always hated the sound of that record, HATE it!!
I appreciate that observation and will listen to it now for how it sounds. I’m a wannabe rock critic…and you probably think I think too much, and I would agree with you…it isn’t pleasant most of the time to have your brain work this much…but I am stuck with it.
Just (to quote the Doobie Brothers) Listen To The Music! And enjoy! That’s what (in my opinion) music is for.
ITS …DOH!!
DOH? I know it’s early, but HUH?
