2/6: MONSTERS OF ROCK, CRUISE TO THE EDGE, GENE/ACE

Greetings from the final day of Monsters Of Rock Cruise. Had a blast this weekend, so many bands, too much to cover here. I’m live from the ship 2-4P ET today on SiriusXM Volume 106 (replay 9-11). Guests scheduled include Lynch Mob and Queensryche. Tomorrow the ship transitions to Prog with Mike Portnoy cohosting with me live all week from Cruise To The Edge. Should be fun!

Huge bucket of gas thrown on the Kiss/Ace reunion rumors with Gene going to Ace’s show. I knew this was happening last week. John 5 made it happen and told me. Needless to say I had to stay quiet. Honestly I have no idea if this is all messing with the fans, just Gene reconnecting, or part of a bigger play kind of “checking Ace out..”. But here’s what I will say, Gene and Paul have been selling the “anyone can be in Kiss” and it doesn’t matter who the lineup is line now for a while. If it doesn’t matter I wonder why there is so much excitement at the POSSIBILITY of a reunion with Ace? Guess what? It has ALWAYS matter and always will…

  1. Damn right, Eddie, it matters who is in KI$$!! From a music standpoint, I would rather attend and hear a KI$$ tribute band perform, rather than pay good money for the current version of KI$$ and hear Paul’s lousy singing. Come to think of it, the current version of KI$$ IS tribute band….ha ha!!

BUT…if the original members (at least Ace) return to KI$$, that is a huge game changer for me, and I’d be one of the first in line to get tickets.

  2. I wonder what Tommy “faker” and Eric “can’t be a Peter Criss” Singer think about all this?
We know Ace can still smoke it, and maybe Peter has a few more of those 9 lives left for 1 more “Rock And Roll Party!” 😉

  3. This Ace reunion would be cool but it’s starting to matter less. Ace has had two good solo albums in a short period and KISS released a solid live blu ray/CD so if they join forces great but if not also fine. As far as Peter goes, 70 is the new 70. Singer is the best drummer KISS ever had but Peter sang some of their best song so who knows. Could Gene be trying to tap into the now defunct BLACK SABBATH tour momentum? Does the Demon sh-t in the woods? Would a farewell originals tour be fun ? Of course.

    1. Eric Carr was the best drummer KISS ever had! As far as Singer goes, he might be a better drummer than Peter at this point, but Peter is still a better singer than Singer…
