12/6: TRUNKNATION, BACH, GUNS, GRAMMY’S, CRUISES, TEXAS THIS WEEKEND, MORE

Hope everyone is having a great week so far. On TrunkNation on SiriusXM Volume it’s been a fun  week for sure . Today my friend Ben Weinman from Dillinger Escape Plan/GTO sat in, yesterday comic and friend Dean Delray. It’s so much fun not only having artists on, but also friends that are fellow rock freaks! Tomorrow Sebastian Bach joins me in studio to talk about his new book. It’s always a blast when Bas and I get together so don’t miss this one. As usual TrunkNation on Volume 106 is live 2-4P ET with a replay 9-11P ET every day!

Tracii Guns and John Corabi joined me as guests Monday on the Trunk Nation show on Hair Nation. Tracii did confirm that Phil Lewis has left the Steve Riley LA Guns and now will join with him full time in that LA Guns. Also coming over from the Steve version of the band is guitarist Michael Grant. I’m not sure where this leaves Steve but he is clearly odd man out here and I wish him well. He was on my show recently and said he’d love to get a WASP reunion together so maybe he can talk Blackie into that?

The absurdity of the Grammy’s for rock and metal continues. Metallica in rock but not metal category for the song “Hardwired”? Beyonce in the rock song category?! That alone pretty much destroys it for anyone to win in terms of credibility. Some of the metal picks were strong. Seeing Gojira well represented makes sense as many feel that is a special album and band. But most of it is nonsense. And having Beyonce in rock just further defines the decades of disrespect that make the Grammy’s the joke they are for our music. It is a pop event based solely on popularity to produce a TV show for the mainstream to watch. Please don’t believe anything else, it’s absurd.

I am excited to announce that in addition to Monsters Of Rock Cruise in Feb, I am also a host on the prog cruise Cruise To The Edge that leaves right after it. It’s my friend Mike Portnoy’s big 50th! Also I will be broadcasting my Volume show from the ship on all weekdays on both cruises! More soon.

I’m hosting Wall Street Rocks Dec 16th at Highline Ballroom for charity. Billy Gibbons and more perform live.

This Friday I’m in Houston at Pub Fountains with King’s X, Saturday in Dallas at Bomb Factory with Slaughter, Kix and more. Books for sale at both events. I may do my Friday show on Pub Fountains. Follow on Twitter for updates.

Don’t forget merch on sale in my merch store now!

  1. Grammys have sucked from Day One. When they finally have Metal…Jethro Tull. Beyoncé in rock is like as retarded as anything on the internet you will ever read. Glad to see Gojira get a nod. Magma is an incredible album. But Best Metal album and a song from that album in the rock category???? Go see Gojira rather than waste time watching the Beyoncé celebration show…ohhh btw she doesn’t even write music..nuff said. Peace.

  2. Again, I not here to defend the GRAMMY association, by any means, as I addressed this issue last year.

Suffice it to say, if the metal bands, and the artists themselves, do not become active members of NARAS, submit their music for consideration, and vote for their fellow colleagues, things will remain status quo. If the fans are frustrated, then request that these bands become active participants in the process. Otherwise, do not expect anything different from the GRAMMY association.

    D 🙂

  3. Texas? This weekend?
Dallas Cowboys are AT N.Y. Giants Sunday!
You do know, the ONLY time Cowboys lose is when the almighty Eddie Trunk is in attendance.
Eddie, safe travels, and get home to that game!
