12/13: R&R HOF, HEADED TO HOUSTON THURSDAY AND DALLAS SATURDAY! ALL SABBATH THIS WEEKEND

Needless to say not happy about Priest not making the R&R HOF. Disappointed enough of my fellow voters didn’t join me in voting to get them in. Hopefully next year. They are so so important to the history of metal (which we have enough examples of how the Hall feels about that genre!), but at least on the ballot and in the conversation. Hoping for next year! 3 of the 5 artists I voted for did get in. Congrats to the Moody Blues, The Cars and Bon Jovi. And to all the inductees. Today on Trunk Nation Richie Sambora will join me live as well as Gregg Hawkes from The Cars. I’ll also reveal my Top 10 HOF snubs with a brand new list. Live 2-4P ET on SiriusXM 106 Volume. Replay 9-11P ET.

Tomorrow I am live from Houston, but please note the previously announced live public broadcast from Bombshells in on Friday in Houston is NOT happening any longer. My show is being pre empted that day so I had to cancel. Hopefully next time. If in Houston or Dallas I will be hosting LA Guns, Enuff Z Nuff & Johnny Solinger Thursday night at Proof (free show!), and I will be in Dallas at Bomb Factory Saturday hosting Ace Frehley, Dokken, LA Guns and more. So come see me if in Houston or Dallas at those spots. I will have merch available as well at both.

New podcast tomorrow features Myles Kennedy. Free www.PodcastOne.com or Itunes.

Theme for number 2 on the FM program this weekend will be the first ever all Black Sabbath show! 3 hours of Sabbath, all eras! Debuts Friday 11P ET Q104.3 NYC and Midnight WAAF Boston. Both stations stream free.

Have a great weekend all, more on Twitter @EddieTrunk

Personally, I think Priest should have gotten in before The Cars, who are deserving but perhaps in a bit too soon. Hard to quibble over The Moody Blues and Bon Jovi getting nods. Both have the credentials, longevity, sales, etc.

Doug, I agree JP definitely should’ve gotten in, (should already be in) but disagree on it being too soon for The Cars, after all, they’ve been around for 40 years!
Bon Jovi, The Cars, Moody Blues, all got an early Christmas present, unfortunately Judas Priest will have to wait at least another year. Bah Humbug!
This Saturday is my annual Twisted Christmas/KISSmas party! We’re gonna be “Rockin’ Around The Christmas Tree!” Simply having a “Wonderful Christmastime!” And after a couple rounds of egg nog, (and some “Cold Gin”) 😉 we’ll be belting out “Grandma Got Run Over By A Reindeer!” Cheers!

Bon Jovi doesn’t belong in the RRHOF…yes they’re still around but there albums suck since the 80’s and who exactly did they influence???? Judas Priest should be I’m long before BJ is even considered… this is nothing more than a popularity contest at this point, not a true depiction of what these bands have meant to music…Hell Dire Straits should’ve been in too… as usual the RRHOF is a ioke

Coredrum, while I agree with you that Priest should be in the Hall, I respectfully disagree with your comment that Bon Jovi doesn’t belong in the Hall. I think they do belong, as they influenced and somewhat pioneered the “hair metal” era, their MTV videos were so well produced and copied by other artists, and they inspired the MTV Unplugged show. Plus, they’ve sold millions of albums and continue to be a top drawing live act. While I also agree that their albums since the 80’s have not been my most favorites, the same could be argued for Metallica…another Hall inductee.

I agree, the Hall is a joke and appears to be mostly a popularity contest. Sometimes I wonder whether the Hall inducts uses “popularity” as a basis for entry on the premise that the popular bands and genres will somehow garnish the Hall more $$$ from a paying public into it’s “non profit” coffers. And then the Hall will used accounting gimmicks to give the perception they don’t make $$ on their tax returns. The Hall is a crock of sh*t, as it truly does not give recognition to the artists who are truly deserving for their musical achievements.

Totally agree with you on Thin Lizzy being overlooked and under appreciated. As far as Foreigner I feel Bad Company deserves it more. I feel Lou Gramm was heavily influenced by Paul Rodgers. Can’t believe them or Free have never been nominated. Also want to throw in Humble Pie into the equation. Steve Marriott was one of the top 5 singers of all time IMHO. Crank up Rockin The Fillmore!

Judas Priest not getting in the HOF is a travesty! They have influenced WAY more bands than Bon Jovi has. I don’t begrudge Bon Jovi getting in, though. Their sales, popularity, and longevity make them bonafide nominees. But them getting in before Judas Priest is a joke! I can’t argue with the Moody Blues getting in. And I’m happy for The Cars. They are a great example of the New Wave/Punk genre, wrote catchy songs, were very popular, etc. I just wish that hard rock/ metal got more respect at the HOF. I mean, when it is this difficult to get such an influential, legendary band as Judas Priest into the HOF, it just shows the disdain the voting public has for this style of music.

Don’t even get me started on the Priest snub, but it is the the Rock N’ Roll Hall of Shame, after all (eye roll).

      D 🙂
