1/19: AN IMPORTANT MESSAGE TO THE FANS OF “THAT METAL SHOW”

A message to the loyal fans of That Metal Show from Eddie, Jim & Don:

We are sorry to report that VH1 Classic will not continue to make any new episodes of That Metal Show. It has been an incredible run of eight years, roughly 125 episodes and some really cool specials. The global response to TMS has been simply amazing, and we will be eternally grateful for the support from the rock and metal fans that have showed us so much love. We truly would have never made it as long as we did without you! A huge thanks also to the great crews we had over the years both in NYC and Los Angeles, to our producer Jeff Baumgardner, and to all the executives at VH1. And finally, thanks to the hundreds of artists that joined us on our set, had fun with us, shared their stories and many, many laughs. From the biggest names in rock history, to the up-and-comers: we thank you all for being a part of it.

Of course we very much want to keep That Metal Show alive, and with the blessing of VH1 Classic, we’ve got the keys to the show and are currently searching for a new home. We’re not sure where we’ll land, but we hope to be back in our studio and your living rooms as soon as possible. In the meantime, keep an eye out for us on the road and come say, “Hello.”

Thank you for watching all these years, and we’ll keep you posted as soon as we have news to share.

That Metal Show was the last cool thing VH-1 will probably do for me. You guys are great ambassadors of Metal. You are a guaranteed youtube attraction, consider that.

Great news, finally this trash is off the air. That Metal Show and its hosts were as Metal as Alesana ( which Eddie probably secretly listens to ),I mean, what’s the point of making a Heavy Metal-themed TV show and advertising it as “the home for all things Heavy Metal” when 99% of the time all the guests and “music” that’s discussed in the show are just a bunch of forgotten 80s Glam Rock bands that no one gives a crap about and never did,and have nothing to do with Metal,I saw the show a few times to see if it’ll ever change, but that’s all they did,yes the had a few guests of real Metal bands, but not enough to call the show a Heavy Metak show.Seioursly, there’s so much music to discuss in the Metal genre,so many underground bands, both old and new,and yes, even in Extreme Metal as well, they said they can’t Death Metal bands on the show because they aren’t classics and VHI classic only plays “the classics”,but they play a lot of late 80s and 90s stuff, which is when a lot of of great Metal bands in Extreme Metal genres like Death Metal,Thrash Metal,Black Metal and in other genres of Metal like Doom Metal,Stoner Metal,Speed Metal,,etc were at their prime, but I never heard any of those bands discussed on the Show, aside from the popular Thrash and Heavy Metal bands, they gave a lame ass excuse about why they can’t discuss Death Metal on the show, because it ain’t classic, and a lot of great bands in that genre like Incantation,Autopsy,Atheist,Possessed (Seven Churches came out in ’86,so they’ve been tearing it up since the mid 80s),Master,Immolation,Massacre,Bolt Thrower,Cancer,Deicide,Sarcofago,Morbid Angel,Unleashed,Asphyx,Obituary,Carnage (Sweden),Beyond/Internent,Sorcery (Sweden),Grotesque (Sweden),Entrails (Sweden),Centinex,Gorement, etc were tearing it up in the late 80s and early 90s,so I say theyre as classic as classic gets, but they said they can’t have them or even acknowledge them on the show because they aren’t classic and they use use profanity and satanic imagery, yet they have bands like Slayer and Lamb of God on the show, and since when bands like Slipknot,Hatebreed,Lamb of God,The Dillinger Escape Plan, etc are anything near classic, and Slipknot (besides the fact that they don’t have anything to do with Metal) uses a lot of profanity, how are the allowed on the show then, plus they’ve also had Avenged Sevenfold,Halestorm,The Pretty Wreckless,The Smashing Pumkins,Godsmack,Marilyn Manson,Buckcherry, and even freakin Black Veil Brides (are you freakin serious?!),How are any of those bands classic and even remotely anything related to Metal???…anyway, enough ranting, you’re more than welcome to delete my this if you want,Eddie, but the truth remains, and that truth is that you don’t know squat about Metal music and its community and you are and always will be a huge poser, and I pity all those clueless sheeps who follow you.

Actually, Eddie is not the only that one can delete posts, I can, as well.

Obviously, I let this through, but I have to say it is quite brave of you to post on a story that is almost four months old, and not heavily trafficked anymore, to conveniently avoid possible backlash.

Also, posting this diatribe once was enough, obviously, I deleted the duplicated post for obvious reasons.

I would’ve replied sooner, but I actually have a job and life, unlike most of the deadbeats on here.Nust what actually was your purpose of your reply, you didn’t say anything, only that you can also delete messages,im shaking in my freakin boots lol,and how posting this on here in my free time that only takes a few seconds to write and post is in any way brave, you’re a typical blind sheep fan who gets pissed when her idol gets mocked girls. The fact still remains that That Metal Show,it’s hosts and Eddie are as Metal as Atreyu and Alesana (which Eddie and the other two tools are probably listening to right now) ,and by the way,I didn’t post it twice my last comment twice on purpose the “post comment link” got stuck and posted it twice. PS: Next time you feel like calling people on their diatribe, you better actually have some arguments to back yourself up,instead of ranting about nonsense like an angst you preteen girl….also,I had a bit of a brain fart in my last comment, now the I re-read it,Possessed’s Seven Churches came out in ‘85,10/16/85…have a good’un tough metal gurlll lol, you’re more than welcome also to delete my comments if that helps ya sleep at night, and reply or don’t,won’t make a difference since I won’t be coming by this site anymore.peace.

First of all, written text does not always carry the proper tone, therefore, I will put your attitude about deleting comments, aside. It was merely an explanation and nothing more. Eddie has gotten accused of deleting comments in the past, and many times, it was me. My statement merely a clarification, but you seemed to have interpreted as snarky.

Secondly, I do not feel it is appropriate to continue a discourse with an individual who refers to me as an “angsty pre-teen girl.” LOL! That comment is so absurd on so many levels, perhaps you have a second career in stand up.

Thirdly, from what I understand, VH1 Classic (hence the name Classic) was only interested in featuring metal and hard rock groups that fit the archetype. The network was NOT interested in featuring any of the bands you mentioned, so therefore, I believe, the hosts hands were tied.

Lastly, on a personal note, I will readily admit to being stuck in an 80’s rut myself (Judas Priest being my favorite band and John Sykes being my favorite all around musician). I have zero interest in new metal bands unless they have a retro sound, like Airborne or Buckcherry, so to each their own. But my point being, for as many metal fans, such as yourself, that wanted the series to showcase new talent, there was a large segment of audience that was not interested in new bands. You can’t please everyone.

      Cheers,
      D

Lol, Talk about a trolling child. This post reminds me of an angry 14 year old, pissed because his or her parents won’t buy him a cd with a pentagram on it.
