A message to the loyal fans of That Metal Show from Eddie, Jim & Don:
We are sorry to report that VH1 Classic will not continue to make any new episodes of That Metal Show. It has been an incredible run of eight years, roughly 125 episodes and some really cool specials. The global response to TMS has been simply amazing, and we will be eternally grateful for the support from the rock and metal fans that have showed us so much love. We truly would have never made it as long as we did without you! A huge thanks also to the great crews we had over the years both in NYC and Los Angeles, to our producer Jeff Baumgardner, and to all the executives at VH1. And finally, thanks to the hundreds of artists that joined us on our set, had fun with us, shared their stories and many, many laughs. From the biggest names in rock history, to the up-and-comers: we thank you all for being a part of it.
Of course we very much want to keep That Metal Show alive, and with the blessing of VH1 Classic, we’ve got the keys to the show and are currently searching for a new home. We’re not sure where we’ll land, but we hope to be back in our studio and your living rooms as soon as possible. In the meantime, keep an eye out for us on the road and come say, “Hello.”
Thank you for watching all these years, and we’ll keep you posted as soon as we have news to share.

i kind of had a feeling this day was coming sooner than later…either way it was a great run and we can always watch reruns..i hope you find new home and can carry on
why would vh1 classic let go of that metal show when it is the main reason to watch the channel? once again it seems hard rock and classic rock gets no respect from the people wearing suits
They have no money. More on this in my podcast this week
I hope this turns out to be a good thing in the end. Hopefully a network will pick this up and do better than one year in between seasons. What is that network going to air re-runs of now that TMS is gone?
Don’t they make money on the show, Ed? As far as I can tell, TMS is their one and only piece of original programming and a huge draw for the channel. Yes there are production costs but given the audience it brings, I can’t imagine TMS is any less profitable a venture than old reruns of Pop Up Video. I’m no expert on the economics of running a third rate cable channel, but it seems to me they’ve just killed the one thing they’ve got going for them!
It was the only original show produced for the channel. They could not even afford that. The channel was never set up for a place for in house produced content. Everything is acquired or they already own that you see
I don’t understand why hard rock and heavy metal are treated like trash. Never get the respect they deserve. As an example, you hear nothing but AC/DC, Iron Maiden, Black Sabbath, etc, during intermissions at football games, yet they keep having Justin Timberlake, Beyonce and other pop artists for halftime shows at the super bowls. Why do they always try to appeal to younger generations when these guys don’t even care about music and would never spend a dime on a vinyl or CD as they download everything?
Not sure what VH1 will do to replace TMS, but other than this show, metal mania and rock fest, I don’t care about anything else.
Hopefully TMS live will return to California and I’ll be there. Eddie got lucky last time when he remembered the band Kill for Thrills, but I will stump him sometime!
They won’t replace TMS. Honestly not sure of the future of the channel at this point.. This is not just about TMS
Will you continue the TMS live shows?
That is a great point. Hard rock and metal are always played at sporting events, they should have a great band like AC/DC perform at the Super Bowl. But, I guess they have to pander to the masses.
Can’t wait to see Beyawnce (spelled like that on purpose) and Cold Play at the half time show this year (eye roll). Guess, that is when I will either take a bathroom break or channel surf.
