10/9: BACH, HAGAR FESTIVAL, ROCK HALL, MORE

Had a crazy weekend last week. If you heard my Volume show on Monday you know all the details. But in a nutshell here I hosted Sebastian Bach at the IDL in Tulsa last Friday. Great crowd and Bas was in great voice. it’s amazing how well he can sing the old Skid Row stuff. He set the bar so high as a kid on those albums and still really nails it. Shout out to Monte Pittman and One bad Son for great opening sets as well. Back in Tulsa this Friday for Tom Keifer at IDL. Great time hosting these shows, come on out!

Saturday I shot TrunkFest (for season 2 next year) and Sammy Hagar’s High Tide Beach Party. Had major stress getting there (which had nothing to do with the event), but once I made it had a blast. The fans were incredible. Sold out 14K strong on the beach in Huntington Beach CA. Amazing setting and weather. I didn’t see much of the sets because I was working. But I did get to intro Sammy which was a huge rush and I thank him for that. Interviewed Sammy, Michael Anthony, Kevin Cronin, Eddie Money, Vince Neil and more. Congrats to Sammy for a great debut festival. It’s amazing what this man can do at almost 71! His set included VH, Montrose, Chickenfoot (with Joe Satriani!), Zeppelin, solo stuff and more. Incredible! I’ll see Sammy 10/19 in El Dorado AR again! This was all recapped in detail on my radio show Monday. If you missed it grab it On Demand.

After some years of great improvement the R&R Hall has dropped the ball big time for rock fans this year for the nominees. Nice to see Leppard finally on the ballot and thanks to Joe Elliott for joining me today on my Volume show to discuss. But Priest is not even on the ballot again, no Maiden, no Benatar, it’s just ridiculous. Listen to my Volume show from today for more and Joe’s interview.

New podcast Thursday will be Steve Vai and Sebastian Bach from my last Volume show from the Rainbow in LA.

OOPS! I f–ked up! I was still in the process of waking up, I totally forgot BJ got in last year, I guess I’m still in shock! Well it took the HOF long enough! Anyway, scratch BJ off my list, but you can add SAMMY HAGAR! Of course he’s in as a member of VH, but he should be in as a solo artist as well! As should OZZY OSBOURNE be! Maybe then RANDY RHOADS would finally get the recognition he deserves, and then some!

Today I heard this indie type band’s song that was based on Johann Sebastian Bach’s “Air on a G String” (no, Doug, just, no) and it was almost blasphemous. Bas should get back with Skid Row if you ask me and then they can tour with Ratt and Bas and Pearcy can ride on the same bus but hopefully with Dana who can kick their butts into shape.

You can add to the list:
      STYX
      BAD COMPANY
      JOURNEY
      BOSTON
      FOREIGNER
      And RATT as well!

Journey was inducted two years ago.

I know, my buddy KB reminded me earlier. I’m having an off week…

I agree with everyone on the lists above. While we’re talking about Hagar, how about Sammy Hagar getting in as a solo artist. That guy has done everything he needs to in order to get in. He would genuinely appreciate it and would perform well also.

Sammy is on my list, James. He definitely deserves to be in as a solo artist! It would take me all day to list his credentials, but Redheads like us don’t need a list, we already know! And if the HOF don’t, let them do the research!

RATT will never get in, and not sure they should ever be considered. Some great albums, yes, but man what is going with Pearcy these days, its embarrassing. For me, Maiden, Priest, Benatar, Scorps should really be considered sooner than later. Priest and Maiden, definitely!

Come on, bro, RATT was 1 of the biggest bands of the 80’s! They weren’t perfect, but compared to some of the current nominees, they should definitely at least be considered. They should Ratt & Roll right into the HOF! Right after about 15 others… 😉
