QUESTION OF THE WEEK: WHAT ARE SOME OF YOUR FAVORITE BAND NAMES?

Off the top of my head:

For coolness: Judas Priest, Mötley Crüe, Van Halen and Iron Maiden.

For laughs: Napoleon Blownaparts and Endangered Feces.

    Others in the coolness category: Metal Church, Manowar, Armored Saint, Slayer, Krokus, Napalm Death, Megadeth

  2. My favorite band names are: Armored Saint, Bitches Sin, Split Beaver, Steeler, Wikkyd Vikker, Bible Black, Mercyful Fate, and Exodus.

    Band names can be misleading as to the heaviness of their music. I’ve fallen for it, cuz some bands aren’t as heavy as their names may suggest.

  3. Jethro Tull…….that guy is awesome !!!! Pink Floyd……..’by the way which one’s Pink’………he’s pretty good too. Uriah Heep completes the trifecta.

    1. Quick boring story: in Huntington Beach Labor Day ’83 weekend with some military friends…..go to a party at an apartment. Maybe 12 people, most watching VH-1 on the TV (videos very new at this point) Everyone cool…..I start talking to a couple of skinny, long haired guys. (We’re military with short hair so WE were the weird looking ones)Tell him I’m from Staten Island. Tells me he was there with his former band Metallica. (I did recall seeing posters on telephone poles with that name, along with others) He is pissed off because he was kicked out of that band. He calls them the Metalli**nts. I’m drinking for free so he can talk all he wants. His buddy was shorter, quiet. They are both named Dave. He tells me to keep an eyeout for his new band, it’s gonna be called Megadeth. Almost spit my beer out because it sounded ridiculous. He was intense, angry. Remember……band names were NOT very aggressive back then. Megadeth sounded over the top silly. Can’t say I’ve ever given them much of a listen. Turns out that Dave did OK for himself……and a lot of people are Megadeth fans.

      Also, now that I am old fart, I occasionally need to have talk radio on to fall asleep. I have heard a person with the name Silas, call into 770 WABC, is that you? It’s not a very common name.
