Mötley Crüe frontman, Vince Neil, has revealed that he suffered a stroke the day after Christmas last year, forcing the “Wild Side” rockers to postpone their Las Vegas residency.
“I had a stroke,” Neil, 64, told the Las Vegas Review-Journal in an interview published Friday. “My whole left side went out.”
Although the Kickstart My Heart crooner felt fine when he went to bed on Christmas night, he shared that the shocking “health scare” started in his sleep.
As a result, Neil and his Mötley Crüe bandmates had no choice but to delay their residency at Dolby Live at Park MGM, which was originally scheduled for March 28th through April 19th, 2025.
The residency is now set for September 12th through October 3rd, per Live Nation.
“I had to learn to walk again, and that was tough,” Neil explained. “The doctors said they didn’t think I’d be able to go back on stage again. I go, ‘No, no, I’m gonna do it. Watch and see.’”
“Mötley canceled the first part of the [residency] so I could get better,” he added.
Despite struggling to walk, the Girls, Girls, Girls singer revealed that he is now “90 to 95% to where I was before” after months of physical therapy.
“I went from people carrying me to the bathroom, because I couldn’t walk myself, finally to a wheelchair,” he shared. “I graduated to a walker, and then I had a cane. Now I don’t need anything. But it’s like a full-time job getting back to where you feel good again.”
“It takes a while to get your brain to start moving your legs, for them to do what your brain wants to do,” Neil added, noting that his voice was not affected by the stroke. “You try to walk, but it doesn’t come out right.”

My mother suffered a stroke in 2022, it is devastating and it changed both our lives. I wished my mother was able to improve, the way Neil did, he is very fortunate.
Way to rehab back, Vince! Best of luck getting to 100%! One of my 85 year old uncles had a stroke a few months ago and so did my 59 year old brother in law. Hard to relearn the skills lost from suffering a stroke.
Good to hear Vince has been recovering and feeling closer to normal. Wishing him a 100% recovery.
Can’t help but think of Nicko McBrain. Incredible to see him comeback and go back on the road for a few more years.
Glad Vince has recovered pretty quickly. He must have had help pretty quickly as the long one waits – the more the stroke affects the body.
The other thing too is now that Vince has had one – he is susceptible to another.
Dana I know we have talked about this in the past as both our mothers had this condition.
My mother had around 10 strokes in the last 6 years of her life and the amount of physical therapy….awful time.
I got one just trying to listen to him sing.
