SINGER STEPHEN PEARCY QUITS RATT

pearcybookcover Ratt frontman Stephen Pearcy has released the following statement:

“After 30 years creating the band Ratt and losing a real brother, Robbin, it’s time that I personally part ways with the band.
I am officially done with having anything to do with them due to the constant turmoil, unresolved business, personal attacks/threats in the public forum, and most of all, the disrespect to the fans.

I’m very content and proud of the legacy and the music I’ve created. This music will live well beyond any of our lifetimes.

I owe no one anything but a huge heartfelt thank you for coming to the party for the last 30 years.
With much respect, life goes on and the music I created will continue to be heard for years to come despite the dark clouds that have lingered for far too long.

I will personally continue to make music and perform live shows.
See you out there.
Sincerely,
SEPearcy”

Ratt’s last album was 2010′s Infestation.

  1. EARTH SHATTERING! First Jeff Conaway left TAXI and now this. These guys have been irrelevant for 25+ years. Now were gonna have what 3 separate bands of idiots singing ROUND AND ROUND an LAY IT DOWN which is like the same f#$king song. REACH FOR THE SKY was their last stab at greatness and then the 80s ended and that was that. Grace Slick said 50 year old men playing rock music looks foolish, now imagine 50 years singing RATT. Pack it in boys. You’re obscure and a joke. Stephen can act like a nasty asshole at CHILLAH THEATRE (right LEE).

  2. People can say what they will, and yes Stephen is a first class ass hat, but Ratt, was, is, and always will be my favorite band, they are in constant rotation on my iPod and hell my georgia license plate is Ratt . I dont understand the wording of the articles going around right now, because Stephen has quit more than once, even formed a group with Fred Coury (Arcade) in the 90s that produced my all time favorite CD and one of my top 5 songs (Cry No More). Unlike Vince Neil, who I can tolerate on CD but not live, (that man sucks helium before he sings live lol) I actually liked watching Stephen live (especially when would tour on his own the previous times he had quit the band) He and Bobby will never get along because Bobby is as big an asshat as Stephen. I never cared about that, I cared about what Stephen’s music meant to me, and it will ALWAYS be meaningful to me. Ratt for me died in 2002 when Robbin died, even though he wasnt with the band then, there was still hope he’d be back, his death ended all of that.

Yes I am a fan, always will be a fan of what was, and I look forward to seeing if Stephen will continue on releasing music that means the world to me

    1. If that really is your license plate, you may be the biggest loser in all of recorded history. Not just because they are a shit band from 30 years ago, but what do other drivers think of you driving past with that asinine vanity plate. The dopes who are actually played that terrible music wouldn’t spend money on that stupid plate. The GEORGIA police should stop and check you for serious drugs every time that you go out. I know that you are joking or a 50 year old virgin with RATT plates on his mother’s buick.

    2. Wow,

Such kind people on here today. Why can’t people just lighten up and not be so nasty? You know the old saying, if you can’t say something nice..yeesh.

    3. Seriously… the real asshat here is @milkmoney.. Oh and btw, I’m nowhere near 50 and LOVED Ratt!

  3. Stephen is the only member of Ratt I have met. I call tell you he was a total jackass. It was during his days in Arcade. There was a meet and greet before a show. After the other members of Arcade walked around and mingled with the fans Stephen arrived. He was arrogant and refused to even talk about Ratt. Forget having him sign one of your Ratt albums. As a fan of Ratt and excited to see what his new band could do I was totally disrespected by him. Once the show began, he proceeded to only play Arcade songs. Keep in mind the first Arcade cd wasn’t even released yet. You could buy it no where. The place had a very nice crowd and you can bet that those purchasing tickets bought their tickets because Stephen was the former lead signer of Ratt. The show was billed in all advertisements as Arcade featuring Stephen Pearcy of Ratt. When fans started requesting Ratt songs he got beligerant with fans. He was cussing at them and even threatened to go into the crowd and fight people. He was a total jerk and my opinion changed of him. From the sound of it Bobby doesn’t sound much better, but I do not know from personal experience.

I also want comment on Ratt’s legacy. I agree with a poster above Ratt was a studio band not a great live band. You can watch VH1’s documentary. They played many of their earlier shows on drugs. And it showed. The music was not very recognizable or garballed live. I hear others say Ratt did a great concert and I laugh because I have never seen them do a good live show. The band was always high or drunk. Even a couple years ago I saw them play a FREE show. Sound was not great, but to show how clueless they were they play the entire Out of the Celler album live. This would work well if you had diehard fans paying to see them but they did this at FREE live show. Then Pearcy would comment why are fans not getting into this. Pearcy thought every fan there worshipped his butt. Stephan has always been clueless. Even read online the reviews of Ratt’s performace of the M3 Rock Festival….not much nice was said about that performance. This is all a real shame because they finally got Croucier back. I had hoped they would straighten things out.

  4. Thanks Steven…..I ve had the pleasure of seeing you perform with the band before……and it was a great time. I can respect your decision since you have no one to answer to on that kind of thing but yourself.
