QUESTION OF THE WEEK: WHAT IS YOUR FAVORITE COVER SONG?

I am really not a fan of cover songs, and for some reason, I get especially perturbed, when bands cover, The Beatles.

I do like Judas Priest’s cover of War Pigs, both versions: the one with The Metal God solo vocals, and the charity version, with Ozzy. I also like W.A.S.P.‘s cover of I Don’t Need No Doctor.

However, with all that being written, hands down this is my favorite cover song of all time, and while I know many may disagree. I think they did a better job than the original (Sorry, Aretha). I think Ron Young is an amazing vocalist, one of my favorites.

  1. My go-to answer is always “Radar Love” by White Lion.

Recently I have to go with Halestorm’s version of “I Want You (She’s So Heavy)” by the Beatles. Its my fav Beatles song and Halestorm KILLS IT.

  2. Some more I thought of that I LOVE:

    W.A.S.P. – “Saturday Night’s Alright for Fighting”

Black Label Society – “Can’t Find My Way Home” and “Juniors Eyes”

YungBlud – “I Was Made For Lovin’ You”

  3. My favorite cover song is Van Halen’s cover of “You Really Got Me”. I think Van Halen took that song by The Kinks and made it their own. The guitar tone, the playing, the vocals…..To me, it’s the one song on the debut Van Halen album that just needs to be on that album to make it complete. And it’s track placement right after “Eruption” is just perfect for it.

    Other notable considerations are:

    “Come Together” by Aerosmith
“You’re No Good” by Van Halen
    “Green Manalishi” by Judas Priest
    “Antisocial” by Anthrax
    “Crazy Horses” by Tank
“Oops I did it Again” by Children of Bodom
