I am really not a fan of cover songs, and for some reason, I get especially perturbed, when bands cover, The Beatles.
I do like Judas Priest’s cover of War Pigs, both versions: the one with The Metal God solo vocals, and the charity version, with Ozzy. I also like W.A.S.P.‘s cover of I Don’t Need No Doctor.
However, with all that being written, hands down this is my favorite cover song of all time, and while I know many may disagree. I think they did a better job than the original (Sorry, Aretha). I think Ron Young is an amazing vocalist, one of my favorites.

Dana, your idea has caused everyone to participate! Everyone likes to tell people their favorite things, their opinions. I look forward to this!
Glad to read that! 🙂
Suggestion for a question of the week – what bands do you think sound just as good (or better) live than they do in the studio?
I will put it on the list.
Van Halen Ice Cream Man.
The Honeydrippers Sea of Love.
Slayer In A Gadda Da Vida.
Judas Priest Better by You, Better Than Me.
Not Metal but Cyndi Lauper certainly
had enormous success with her cover of Girls Just Want to Have Fun.
I had no idea Better by You, Better Than Me, was a cover song.
Music is sentiment, feeling, not just thechnique
This two versions blew out my mind
Paranoid (Black Sabbath) from Bellestar and Wholo lotta love (Led Zep) by Vargas blues band
