This is tough for me, because there are so many Christmas that I love including Sleigh Ride, Holly Jolly Christmas,It’s The Most Wonderful Time Of The Year, etc. But the one I always find myself singing is:
‘God Rest Ye Merry Gentlemen’ – performed by the late great Ronnie James Dio, Tony Iommi, Rudy Sarzo and Simon Wright.
And so we reach this point of year again. Oh how the time has flown by once more. My sincere best wishes to all who contribute to the forums here on Eddie’s site and hope you all have a very happy holiday period and a much more happier New Year.
The world is a strange and crazy place. Everybody is different in some way, shape or form. Not everybody agrees with everything, and sadly there is still far too much pain, death and destruction. A certain person from Liverpool once wrote a line that said “All you need is Love.” It is a shame that more of us don’t open our hearts and minds to it.
I said earlier that everybody is different. However, if you think about it, we’re all the same. I’ll give you an example if I may:
Fellow contributor RattleHead loves Megadeth. I prefer Metallica. Despite this difference, if you took a step back and looked at why ‘Rattle likes Megadeth and why I like Metallica – the reasons are probably the same. So, we’re different but we’re the same – Does that make sense?
One thing is for sure: For all the differences in the world, whatever they are, one thing that brings people together…..is MUSIC – It is the international language. It also helps us to forget our worries and our problems; not matter what the genre.
2025 took away some big heroes. Firstly (if I’m right in saying it was this year) we all rallied around to make sure our resident Metal Queen Dana was fine following the news of the passing of the great John Sykes. Then came the worst one for me: 22nd July – Ozzy Osbourne. The only time I choked up when hearing that a celebrity / hero of mine had passed. At that point he was the third hero I had lost in 11 years. I even had to walk away from the TV when seeing the live footage of his funeral. I remain truly honoured and proud to have met him in person.
And then in October we received the news that the one and only true ‘Spaceman’ Ace Frehley had boarded the rocket ship back to Planet Jendell. Each leaves us with memories that will make us smile and a catalogue of work that we can all crank to the max until the end of time – May they all be blessed.
Once again, may you all have a wonderful time this festive period. To the great Eddie Trunk: Keep doing it my friend – Nobody does it better than you!!
Lastly, and by no means least: To our dear and beloved Dana. It’s been wonderful to interact with you once again this year on various subjects, both good and bad – happy and sad. May we all continue to do the same next year.
In the words of the recently retired ‘Lord’ David Coverdale:
“Be safe; Be Happy – And don’t let anybody make you Afraid.”
Great post, DJH! Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays to all my fellow rivet heads!
Well said DJH.
I’m new to this forum but I truly enjoy reading everyone’s posts and opinions.
And yes a big Thank You to Dana (fellow diehard Priest fan 🙂 ) for giving us all an opportunity to speak on all the topics relating to the greatest
genre in all of music!
Favorite Christmas songs
Manheim Steamroller – Carol of the Bells
TSO – Christmas Eve Sarajevo 12/24
Classic: I’ll have to go with Silent Night
Merry Christmas to all!!!!!!!!
Aww Scott, so sweet.
Every song I’ve seen posted is great! But I must say that my all-time favorite is Lemmy doing ” Run Run Rudolph ” with Billy Gibbons on guitar. Hope that Dana is feeling better? Lemmy ought to do the trick 🙂
Have you heard Kelly Clarkson’s rendition of Run Run Rudolph?
And the same to you Rattlehead – I might get myself an Explorer of some description in the New Year!
Thank you Scott, all the best to you and welcome to Eddie Trunk.com!
I too love classic Judas Priest. I stopped listening once KK left; and personally don’t know how they can still call themselves Judas Priest when not only is KK not there but neither is Glenn Tipton – They give it the sound!!!
Each to their own of course….
Merry Christmas / Happy Holidays to you Dana!
Thank you so much, my BBB (Best British Buddy).
Hope you got some great gifts.
DJH, I think Explorers are awesome guitars. For me, Ricky Medlocke of Blackfoot and James Hetfield were huge inspirations for my loving the Explorer shape. Happy hunting for that killer axe!
And I agree with you about Judas Priest. I just don’t see that band as Judas Priest anymore. Two guitarists performing the classic songs of music neither wrote….yeah, that’s not my Judas Priest.
Nicely stated DJH. Merry Christmas & Happiness in the New Year \m/
Taskerofpuppets – I’ve only just seen your post; thank you and best wishes to you.
Merry Christmas Everyone by the greatest glam rock band of all time, Slade!
Dokken – Santa Claus is Coming to Town
John Lennon – Happy Christmas
Twisted Sister – Silver Bells (complete with a bass solo at the end)
Hotei – Happy Christmas
Darlene Love – Baby Please Come Home
The Waitresses – Christmas Wrapping
“All I Want For Christmas is My Two Front Teeth” I have to get my teeth fixed. I dropped a dumbbell on them a few years ago so 3 are missing. I don’t have adequate dental insurance so I have to pay around 24k out of pocket. I’m socially awkward and shy because of it. I’m aiming towards my late-May 53rd birthday to “get ’em done”
get a flipper in the meantime dude, they’re a few hundred bucks….you shouldn’t have to walk around like that…”Christmas Concerto” Vivaldi (Easter would be Bach).
