Favorite song: Save Your Love – that is the craziest, coolest song; let’s start with the perfect Ace vocal…”when you couldn’t reach me…” you almost hear the echo from outer space when says that, and that’s just because of how he said it. Next, his bass playing: fluid, very musical, and just too cool. That bridge: just crazy, it’s so out there and cool; I love what Ace does on the bass there and how it works with the vocal, he goes,”so long..” and then descends down the bass scale into… That guitar solo: the attitude, the phrasing, the way he extends notes with so much strength; Ace was maybe the most forceful guitarist I’ve ever heard. Ace’s playing has weight to it.
Favorite solo record is Space Invaders, he put out some of his best work when he got his career going again; I think if he would’ve been able to play more of his new material live; it would’ve given him a really nice boost on those tours. But, he was relegated to playing his hits, and there were too many.
My favourite ‘Ace’ album is the 78 solo album… it showcased Ace’s singing voice and some magical songs and riffs..
As far as kiss studio albums, i love the rawness of Ace’s guitar on RNRO..
My favourite Ace song is Shock Me.. up to that time i was a young KISS and Ace fan, much like you Eddie, .but when i saw and heard Alive II , shock me with guitar solo and Ace’s Love Gun costume it sent my level of Ace fandom into the stratosphere.. i became an Ace fanatic forever after.
When Ace passed my friends generally had a ‘damn, what shame’ sorta feeling, but for me it was much much deeper… he meant so much to me and I feel like part of my childhood died with him… still cannot believe he is actually gone..
also so sad he didn’t get to acccept the kennedy center honors…..
