QUESTION OF THE WEEK: NAME ONE ALBUM THAT YOU WOULD CONSIDER PERFECT OR CLOSE TO PERFECT? MEANING ALL KILLER, NO FILLER, NO “GREATEST HITS” RECORDS ALLOWED

I realize this is a difficult question, so I will allow for some honorable mentions. However, your first choice, must be your top choice. The genre must be Hard Rock, and Heavy Metal, only.

For me, off the top of my head:

Top choice: Judas PriestScreaming For Vengeance

Some honorable mentions: Def LeppardPyromania, Lynch MobWicked Sensation, (Bon years) AC/DCHighway To Hell/(Brian years) Back In Black, Van HalenVan Halen TeslaMechanical Resonance, Ozzy OsbourneDiary Of A Madman.

  1. My “perfect” album is Megadeth’s “Rust In Peace” album. IMO, every single song is great, not a “filler” in the bunch. On this album, Megadeth showcase their technical abilities on these Dave Mustaine penned songs. Alot of notes played on this album, and every single note fits perfectly where Mustaine put it in each song. It’s my favorite thrash album, just perfect and killer from beginning to end.

    1. you know, his first record doesn’t get the appreciation it deserves. That is such a crazy rock and roll record, it’s not a traditional metal type record, Dave writes real melodies over his riffs, and the band is on “the juice” playing so freaking fast it sounds like they speeded up the tape, but I don’t think they did. But the musicianship on Killing Is MY Business is ridiculous.

  2. Tough Question…gonna go with the Ace Frehley solo record from 1978. one of my first 8-TRACKS i ever had and loved every single song, still d to this day. every time i listen i try to pick a favorite song and i cant, that are all excellent.

    Honorable mention:
    Van Halen – 1984
    King’s X – King’s X
    Queen – Jazz
    Extreme – III Sides
    Metallica – Ride The Lightning

  3. Journey – Escape
Immaculate, not one note or move out of place, and it’s the only record I can think of that is that perfect, so here it is as a stand alone entry. Thanks, Dana. 🙂

  4. Crüe album with Corabi. It was between this and Blast Tyrant from Clutch. Tommy’s drumming on the album was the tie breaker.

    Very honorable mentions:

    Operation: Mindcrime
    Somewhere In Time
    Fortress
