Well, regarding musicians, in my humble opinion, this year had been terrible. Sadly, we have lost many iconic talents, such as, Ozzy Osbourne, Ace Frehley, John James Sykes, as well as, others.
But, with that “said,” off the top of my head, I am grateful to, The Kelly Clarkson Show, for introducing me to Whiskey Myers, and to Wolfgang Van Halen, for going against the large grain by proving, that some nepo babies, can have immense talent.
It seems that, especially in the music space, it is has been extraordinarily difficult for progenies, to follow in their parent’s footsteps. Also, in many cases, sorry to have to write this, but many are not very good.
While I understand, being the child of a famous musician, must be very difficult, especially a very influential one, such as a member of The Beatles (who, in my opinion, only produced one talented offspring, Julian Lennon), there have been rare occasions, where we have had, some talented children. So, once again, thank you to Wolfgang Van Halen, who has beaten the odds, in the most spectacular way.
Can you think of any other progenies who have been successful? Two others, that come to mind, as I type this, are, Jason Bonham and Wilson Phillips (the 90s singing group, made up of Chyna Phillips (daughter of John and Michelle Phillips of The Mamas And The Papas) and Carnie and Wendy Wilson (daughters of Beach Boy, Brian Wilson). Also, whether you think Wilson Phillips were talented, is subjective, but they did have rather large commercial success).
Finally, Happy Turkey Day everyone. Hope you fill your bellies with treats, and end your day, with stuffed smiles.

Wolfgang is in funny situation: the music that influences him is, almost inevitably, going to be influenced by his father….so it comes back around to us in this feedback loop…and he’s getting better at it…it seems like he’s always improving. He wears his influences well. I am just grateful that I have the gift of music itself. I remember being left on my own when I was pre school age, my parents split up when I was a toddler and my mother, many times was awol. But I discovered music, and after many years, got pretty good at writing it…and it’s kept me out of trouble for the most part…God knows where I would’ve ended up without that outlet. DId I answer that right? I kind of veered off…

I’m just thankful for the music that I love, all of it. Kiss’ Dressed To Kill box set was a really nice surprise. And I’ve bought so many other items this year I’d have to go back and see what they are and then try to pick just one! But as I said I’m just thankful for all of it.
Ok, I think you are trying to ask who are we looking forward to in 2026? There is not many bands that I can sit thru live anymore in my late 50s. Halsey without a doubt is my favorite artist. Her music has a kick and I just love her!! Listen to If I can’t have love, I want power cd. I saw her twice this year. Lucifer is great! I have all 5 of their cds They have that 70 doom vibe. Candlemass thank God they are still kicking.Dream theater is still putting out great music. I hope for a new cd from Creed!!!!! I hope Motley Crue and Guns and roses go away for good! Alice Coopers new cd is excellent! I am hoping for a new Pretty Reckless cd!!! I was already thinking that if no new incentives for artists to create music. It may become a world of listening to old releases. I just discovered some early Thin Lizzy. Great stuff from the 70s.
Oops, thanks for correcting me, my mind is ahead. I actually meant, 2025.
George, I love your G n R comment….and I agree!
