QUESTION OF THE WEEK: IF YOU COULD MANAGE A BAND, OR A SOLO ARTIST, WHO WOULD IT BE AND WHY?

Although managing Ozzy might be a hoot, I think my answer, and the why, is too obvious:

  1. Iron Maiden, around 1979. Never mind that i would have been 14 years old at that time. I would be in Europe, with Iron Maiden, during this period. I’d be there during the NWOBHM era to witness all these great NWOBHM bands like Angel Witch, Diamond Head, Venom, Bitches Sin, etc…some which I’d “pair” with Iron Maiden for gigs at The Marquee and other club venues. I’d put on killer NWOBHM gigs for young metal heads to enjoy.

If i had to pick a current artist, it would be Taylor Swift cuz it would be a great financial opportunity. I would get to see the world, Taylor treats her people right, she’s a genuine nice person, and everything she brands it sells. She’s more than a solo artist….she’s a corporate machine/brand that simply leaves KI$$ in the dust….and I’d make “bank” working for her. Plus, I love her music!

  2. I think I would manage early 80s Hanoi Rocks. I felt they had so much potential but their albums lacked proper production plus someone needed to stand up to Andy McCoy. They really should have been the first wave of sleaze rock way before GNR

  3. I would go back in time to 1966, give Allen Klein the wrong address, and show up to meet with the Rolling Stones at the right address and offer my services as their manager. I would’ve saved them from the 20+ years of legal wrangling they had to do with Klein, and allowed them to retain full ownership of all the publishing to their biggest hits (see: Rolling Stones’ Hot Rocks).
