Under appreciated to me, meant should have been huge. But, either way, it’s all good.
Nice selections Rattle.
Remember Fates Warning, kinda like Metallica & Testament.Often thought they deserved more attention.
Tasker, IMO, Fates Warning sounds like Metallica during the “..Justice..” album era. Kinda progressive sounding….Great vocalist in Ray Alder and a great bassist from Armored Saint, Joey Vera.
Didn’t know that about Joey Vera being in Fates.
Someone probably beat me to it, but King’s X. Some others who come to mind:
Autograph (much more than Turn Up The Radio)
Wings Of Steel
Alter Bridge
Diamondhead
Europe
Firehouse
Shadows Fall
Sword
The Pretty Reckless
Thunderhead
Winger
RPS, I love seeing Diamond Head on your list. Great NWOBHM band that were hailed as the next Led Zeppelin. And Sounds Magazine claimed “there are more good riffs in your average single Diamond Head song than there are in the first four Black Sabbath albums.” Who knows how things would have turned out for Diamond Head had they had strong management.
Really like the Winger pick. Pull is a favorite album of mine. Much edgier than the 80’s records.
Reb Beach is underrated as a guitarist. The solo’s, riffs and rhythm on Pull is an example of this
Poor Winger, thanks to stupid Beavis and Butthead, they got such a rotten deal. There are/were great, and highly skilled musicians, in that band.
here’s another one: Mandy Lion…. I have heard a lot of his unreleased material and it’s GREAT. He is also a chameleon vocally, and could sing normal if he wanted to, he has a really wide range of what he can do as a singer. Great live show….

…no, that was the “under appreciated albums” question…so this one is a bit different….
I’m interpreting “underappreciated” to mean artists not recognized for their skills, so my list does not mean artists that should have been huge.
John Bush – Armored Saint vocalist
Dave Meniketti – Y&T vocalist and lead guitarist. He’s as dual talent.
Tony Macalpine – neo classical guitarist
The heavy metal bands Steeler, Warlord, and Diamond Head.

Firehouse is a good one.
Yep, I agree with Firehouse as well!
