QUESTION OF THE WEEK, FROM POSTER DOUG R., WHO DO YOU THINK ARE THE MOST UNDER APPRECIATED BANDS/MUSICIANS?

Not surprise, number one is JOHN SYKES/Blue Murder.

Also, Tora Tora and Richie Kozten. If I think of anyone else, I will add them to my list.

    1. Tasker, I think Nevermore is a great band. I have a couple of their albums and I saw them once play on Megadeth’s Gigantour. Talented group of musicians, especially guitarist Jeff Loomis.

    1. Wrecked Neck, I love seeing Satan on your list! Great NWOBHM band! Their album “Court in the Act” is awesome and their singer, Brian Ross, is the NWOBHM equivalent of Rob Halford….just a great voice!

If you like Satan, check out the band Blind Fury. It’s essentially integral Satan band members performing under a different band name.

    2. Rattle; I am way ahead of you lol I’ve owned that cd for years, and it’s great.

I think Satan should never have picked that as the name for their band. Probably automatically turned most people off before they ever listened to them. Funnily enough, it’s the name of the band that made me want to check them out in the first place. I was a bit disappointed when I opened up my Court in the Act cassette though. I was expecting to hear Slayer 2.0, and got something closer to Iron Maiden. Still liked it but with a name like Satan, not what I was expecting.

    3. Wrecked Neck, I concur with you about the name “Satan” for a band. They were trying to go with a band name that would shock people, but, I agree, it turned people off. And that band name surely isn’t gonna get them a record contract or any radio play. But despite the terrible band name, I think Satan is a great band.

Glad you have the Blind Fury CD! I love these obscure NWOBHM bands getting some attention and having a fan base.

  1. I got to see Winger about 4 years ago for the first time. Stripped down version if you will. Nothing flashy just musicians and some stage lights.
Probably one of the best shows I’ve seen it the last 10 years!

Dana, I wasn’t sure where to mention this but I wanted to tell you that I’m FINALLY going to see Lynch Mob for the first time ever next month at a small club
near Cleveland!!!!! I’m stoked to finally see George Lynch in person & in a small venue is a bonus!!!!

    1. Scott,

Good for you, I hope they deliver, you know how I feel about Lynch.

I was fortunate to see the original Wicked Sensation lineup and then another time when he toured with Robert Mason.

Enjoy, and of course, let me know how you enjoyed the performance.
