QUESTION OF THE WEEK: THE GRAMMY’S AIRED LAST NIGHT (I DID NOT WATCH), DO ANY OF THESE AWARDS SHOW MATTER, OR HAVE ANY RELEVANCE, ANYMORE?

My answer is “No.” I know far too much insider information about the Grammy’s, and how their “voting” process is accomplished.

Additionally, the entire music landscape has changed, and to me, there is very little talent, and variety, anymore, so it’s a who give a s–t about these self congratulatory awards shows, for less than mediocre talent?

Finally, I heard on many news shows, once again, musicians had to drag politics into the mix. Just go away with that BS.

  1. My answer? NO!! Meaningless, totally irrelevant! The Grammy’s are not the Grammy’s anymore, it’s just a sh-t show now for glorified no-talented assholes! Politician musician wannabes!

  2. No didn’t watch. No they have no relevance. Only part I might watch at some point is the Ozzy tribute. But from some of the clips I saw, I wasn’t really impressed. I saw one picture of Ozzy, then a bunch of names being listed for some reason. But putting that aside, non of these award shows ever really interested me. When I was a kid up till very early twenty’s, I might have watched the Oscars. But even then it wasn’t high on my priority list. If it was on and I was home I’d watch. If I missed them then so be it. These days I wouldn’t watch them because most of the awards given out are crap I care nothing for. Plus these dumbass celebrities can’t seem to keep their useless politics out of it, so I have no use watching that propaganda.

  3. music and art used to bring people of different points of view together….and that’s what it’s supposed to do! so…just total bs….all of it: the art itself is about as nuanced as our topical discussions now….it’s manufactured horse whatever

  4. None of these music “award shows” mean anything, at least not to me. Best album? Best artist? Best song? My “best” is whatever I like the best. Other people’s opinions, the people who vote on this stuff, mean nothing to me. To each their own.

The other thing about these award shows is celebrities use them for their own personal agendas…..i HATE when that happens…..

  5. When Jethro Tull…….and I’m a fan…….won the first ever Grammy for Best Hard Rock/Metal Performance in 1989 (Crest of a Knave), beating Metallica ‘And Justice For All’………my young self now understood how silly the Grammy awards are. Tony/Emmy/Academy awards are more legit in my ignorant opinion.

    1. Although aggravated by that obvious stupidity, I think it took me a bit longer to stop watching the Grammy’s, because bands I loved were still appearing, and performing. Not sure exactly when I checked out, but I presume it was somewhere in the late 90s/early 2000’s?

I cannot recall the last time I watched the American Music Awards, Oscars, Golden Globes, Emmys or the People’s Choice Awards. I never watched the Tony‘s, because I HATE musical theater, BARF!

I watched the arrivals to many of these awards shows far longer, because both my mother and I were interested in the fashion, but even that got old and moldy.
