After the completion of his Cooking With Paul Stanley seminar at KISS Kruise: Landlocked In Vegas, Stanley took part in an impromptu question-and-answer session with audience members, some select responses appear below (as transcribed by blabbermouth.net).
On late KISS guitarist Ace Frehley:
Stanley: “It’s no secret — we had lots of differences with Ace, lots of differences with [original KISS drummer] Peter [Criss]. But that’s family. This whole KISS monument was built with a foundation of those guys. We couldn’t have started it without them, and we couldn’t continue it with them, but it doesn’t change [their contributions]. [Ace] was so thrilled with the idea of going to the Kennedy Center… We miss him, and I hope he lived the kind of life he wanted to. He was one of a kind and he was wild, and he did say if his life ended tomorrow, he’d have no regrets because he lived the kind of life he wanted to. That’s all we can expect from any of us — when it’s over, hopefully we’ve had the kinds of lives that we wanted. That’s what I wish for all of you — just don’t go too soon.”
On why KISS shies away from performing “deep cuts…”:
Stanley: “Let’s talk about deep cuts for a minute. Deep cuts appeal to two people… I once went to see a very, very big band, and what they were advertising for this particular show was [that] they were going to play all deep cuts. It was the most boring f–king thing I’d ever seen in my life. Honestly, the reason cuts are deep is because they’re not popular, and they’re not as good. Do we take out Detroit Rock City? Do we take out Love Gun? Do we take out God Of Thunder to play some [lesser-known] song? I don’t think you’ll be disappointed…but if you’re expecting deep cuts, I’ll see you next time.”
On whether fans can expect additional KISS “kruises” in the future:
Stanley: “We’re doing our best to get a ship for next year.”
KISS Kruise: Landlocked In Vegas is taking place November 14th-16th at Virgin Hotels Las Vegas.

their new avatars are picture perfect photos of Tommy and Eric….Paul and Gene want Peter and Ace erased.
The Catman – looks like Peter
The Spaceman – looks like Fake Ace
they haven’t rolled them out yet, Paul talked about them in their latest Vegas jaunt when he said they’re picture perfect photos of the the band….I would so happy if they have them as Ace and Peter, but I am skeptical
the whole idea of Kiss is that you find your inner character that’s unique to only you …that’s so 1970s….now, Kiss is a franchise restaurant version of just conformity to a brand…it’s not even close to the Spirit of Kiss.
I understand Kiss got too big for them to stop, but some things to ponder: what if they had taken a break in 1978 instead of just working, as the “spirit of the ’70s” affected two of the members who may have needed to rest, so no movie and no solo albums, but a 1979 comeback? what if Paul and Gene had let Eric (maybe he should’ve sang Rock and Roll Hell on Creatures) and Vinnie have more prominence in Kiss with their new personas and they kept it going with the makeup? then taking the makeup off would’ve had more effect if they kept those new characters for five more years. what if Peter and Ace had said no to the reunion? would there be an Eric and Tommy in their makeup, or these avatars, or would Kiss have just ended in the early ’00s w/the Revenge lineup? Now, thousands of years later, people will see Kiss as Gene, Paul, Tommy, and Eric….lol…that is wild, but here we are. Maybe there are just secrets of the universe we will never know.
what I am going to do is recruit a tribute Kiss band lineup for Gene, Paul, Eric Carr, and Vinnie. I am going put Creatures, Lick It Up, all of Vinnie’s solo work, including VVI, his demos, etc., some of Gene and Paul’s demos from around that time, and some of Eric Carr’s demo stuff, if there is any from that period (nothing post 1983), put those into an AI machine to mine data for new material. This tribute Kiss lineup will then learn this new material and we will start releasing records with them actually performing these AI written songs, and then we can tour starting with the Creatures themed stage show, now with video screens, with this lineup in full makeup. I will reissue Lick It Up in full makeup cover to coincide with this release of new Kiss material from this lineup. I will do this for five years, and then do an AI fake out with my Kiss tribute band/MTV JJ Jackson unveiling. Then we will see if anybody still cares….uhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh….
and for the record, I don’t think Paul, or anybody in Kiss, would use AI to write….I think Paul is too egotistical, and so are the other guys…being egotistical is not a bad thing; a lot of times, it comes in handy.
