The legendary King’s X, comprised of dUg Pinnick, Ty Tabor & Jerry Gaskill, are pleased to announce the release of their 13th studio album Three Sides of One on September 2nd. With the announcement comes the first new music from the band in 14 years, with the release of the album’s heavy first single Let It Rain, listen to the song below.
Of the new album, dUg Pinnick comments, “When I think of it, King’s X feels like a couple of old best friends coming together, shooting the shit, and having a good time, it’s instinctual. When I would listen to demo tapes of Jerry and Ty for the record, it gave me a great perspective on how blessed I am to be in King’s X. What they did on Three Sides of One sounded so good. For as familiar as it is, it’s like I’m in a new band.”
Ty adds, “This time, we sat around, listened to each other’s ideas, and would collectively say, ‘Let’s work on that’. It was the most enjoyable album I’ve personally ever recorded in my entire life, period.”
Jerry continues, “I’ll cherish what we did in my heart forever. Everything lined up perfectly.”

Along the way, they architected a catalog of seminal releases. KERRANG! famously scored their 1988 full-length debut, Out of the Silent Planet, with a rare “5-out-of-5-stars.” On its heels, the landmark Gretchen Goes To Nebraska continues to inspire think pieces with Ultimate Classic Rock going as far to proclaim, “no one else has crafted anything remotely like it.” They notably appeared on the soundtrack to Bill & Ted’s Bogus Journey, and Guitar World christened the self-titled King’s X one of “The 30 Greatest Rock Guitar Albums of 1992” (a year notably highlighted by Pantera’s Vulgar Display of Power, Alice In Chains’ Dirt, Megadeth’s Countdown To Extinction, Dream Theater’s Images and Words, and many more). Following Dogman, the group graced the stage of Woodstock 1994 and toured with everyone from Pearl Jam and AC/DC to Mötley Crüe and Iron Maiden. They also attracted one of the most diehard fanbases in music with Ear Candy [1996], Tape Head [1998], Please Come Home… Mr. Bulbous [2000], Manic Moonlight [2001], Black Like Sunday [2003], Ogre Tones [2005], and XV [2008].
Their first full-length studio offering in 14 years, Three Sides of One, represents the culmination of this trip and of a bond forged way back in 1979.

Its ok. I wonder why it took so long for a new Kings x release. Dug’s voice sounds great. The music is just ok. The last great Kings x was self titled or Dogman. I dont have Black like Sunday or XV. Dug Pinnick has just been killing it the last few years. a great solo cd. Three great releases with George Lynch with KXM.
It had a very Alice in chains meets zep vibe
But I was expecting more …pretty disappointing
Dug is awesome. I’ve met the entire band a few times over the years. I don’t know them personally but the way they carry themselves and how they interact with their fans (for free mind you), all signs point to them as being great people. I made a comment about Ozzy in a different post on here and how, in my opinion, although I’m grateful he is still putting out new music, having Andrew Watt produce his last two records is not making Ozzy go out on top. Dug Pinnick, however, is winding down his career on top with his solo releases, KXM, numerous other projects and of course the incredible King’s X. I have to respectfully disagree with you George. I think Let It Rain is more.than ok. I think it’s awesome!
Ok, This song has grown on me. I love it! I am such a huge Kings x fan that I got out Orges Tones and was jamming it loud today. This new release is going to end up like Black like Sunday or xv where you have to spend a lot for the cd if you can even find it. Its limited as a cd. They want $17 at amazon for it. Mr Stanley I think Dug still has a lot of music in him. I am just wondering when some new great bands are going to emerge.
I was able to pre-order the limited edition vinyl and cd through the record labels site. I think Ogre Tones and XV are great records. In fact I remember seeing them on tour and they played that entire album start to finish.
As far as newer bands, I’ll probably catch some flack for this, but I really dig Greta Van Fleet. Sure the Zeppelin influence shines through their music and the singer reminds me of Freddie Mercury. But every band has influences in their music. The key is making it your own and I believe GVF started to do that on their last record.
There’s a lot of newer awesome bands out there like Rival Sons for example. Some heavy bands I dig include Plague Years and Enforced.
Whoa why didn’t my comment get approved?
Which one? I went six pages back and could not find anything not approved??
Hey Mr Stanley, You and I would be good friends if we live near each other. You got me wondering what I am missing not having Black Sunday or xv. One of my additions is collecting music! I love Gretta Van Fleet!! From the Fires is one of the best rock releases in a while. I do have their newest release but have not had time to open it. Their last one seemed like unfinished songs to me. Candlemass Door to Doom is the best release that I have heard in 10 years for sure! The Pretty Reckless is beyond great!! I will have to check out those bands that you mentioned.
