Iron Maiden and The Black Crowes are among the 2026 nominees for induction into the Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame.
The Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame revealed the list of the following 17 “Performer” nominees Wednesday (February 25):
The Black Crowes
Jeff Buckley
Mariah Carey
Phil Collins
Melissa Etheridge
Lauryn Hill
Billy Idol
INXS
Iron Maiden
Joy Divison/New Order
New Edition
Oasis
Pink
Sade
Shakira
Luther Vandross
Wu-Tang Clan
The 10 nominees appearing on the ballot for the first time are Jeff Buckley, Phil Collins, Melissa Etheridge, Lauryn Hill, INXS, New Edition, Pink, Shakira, Luther Vandross and Wu-Tang Clan.
“This diverse list of talented nominees recognizes the ever-evolving faces and sounds of rock and roll and its continued impact on youth culture,” John Sykes, chairman of the Rock & Roll Hall Of Fame Foundation, said in a statement.
The official inductees will be announced in April, along with the “Musical Influence” and “Musical Excellence” awards, as well as the “Ahmet Ertegun Award” reserved for a prolific music industry veteran.
Artists must have released their first commercial recording at least 25 years before they’re eligible for induction.
Nominees will be voted on by more than 1,200 artists, historians and music industry professionals.
While Iron Maiden has been eligible to join the Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame since 2004, the band had only been nominated twice before — in 2021 and 2023.
The Hall Of Fame previously said the Iron Maiden members that would get inducted include the current lineup of singer Bruce Dickinson, bassist Steve Harris and guitarists Adrian Smith, Dave Murray and Janick Gers, along with former guitarist Dennis Stratton, ex-singer Paul Di’Anno and former drummers Nicko McBrain and Clive Burr.

Another year, another embarrassing list.
Of course I’d love to see Maiden get in (even though like many of us who post on Eddie’s site, I believe the Rock Hall gets it wrong WAY more than gets it right in terms of who gets in and when). I can think of two bands that influenced Maiden that should already be in and are not: Jethro Tull and Thin Lizzy.
Both have been covered by Maiden over the years. To me the order in which bands get in matters a lot. In Metal it should have gone like this: Sabbath first, then Priest, then Maiden, then Metallica. But they put Metallica in first. Ok, I’m done bitching…for now.
Here we go again….
Not getting into the deja vu complaint-fest of the ridiculousness of the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame, but for what it’s worth, here are my seven picks (that’s the number who will be inducted):
1- OASIS – the best rock & roll band of the past 35 years (in my opinion)!
2- Black Crowes – the best American rock & roll band of the past 35 years.
3- Iron Maiden – the best NWOBHM band!
4- Billy Idol – Classic hits, sheer longevity.
5- INXS – outside of AC/DC, kangaroos, and koalas, the best thing to come out of Australia.
6- Sade – I know, I know. She’s not rock & roll. So what? Undeniably great voice and classic songs – period!
7- Jeff Buckley – When even Robert Plant says he was an influence on his music (!!!), you don’t argue with The Golden God.
Of course, I am certain that the HoF Board will pick
