Guitarist Ace Frehley says he participate in a KISS reunion with all the original members, but only if the price is right. Speaking exclusively to Rock Candy‘s Dave Reynolds for a 12-page cover story in the latest issue of the magazine, Excerpts from the feature appear below [as per blabbermouth.net.].
“It would be nice to go back out again with them,” Frehley said. “But it’s not my call. I think we have a really good relationship now. I text Paul back and forth and we’ve worked together, as I have with Gene. I would seriously consider it, but the money would have to be right. I’m not gonna take Tommy Thayer’s salary.”
“It would certainly sell more tickets with me involved,” he added. “I have a gut feeling it will happen.”
Ace acknowledges that he wasn’t always the easiest to work with, given his acknowledged addictions with alcohol and drugs.
“I know that I put those guys through hell in the past,” he conceded. “Sometimes I was too drunk at soundchecks, but sobriety has made me more dependable and reliable.” Frehley says he’s been sober for 13 years now, and would be fit to rejoin the band, for what would be an unforgettable experience, especially if original drummer Peter Criss were to come back into the fold.
“It would be really exciting,” he said. “Not just for me, but also for the fans. I’m ready. I feel reborn.”

Sorry Ace, but KISS has been selling tickets just fine without you and they wouldn’t sell much more with you. I am saddened that Paul and Gene will not give you one last chance. 13 years sobriety and steadily releasing original and cover material. You can totally fit in the band now. Your playing and sound are just as good today as it was back in the day. I love your intro on “I Wanna go Back” on your latest album. Tommy could never play that. He might copy it but it wouldn’t sound good. Maybe once KISS is done and the make up is off, Paul and Gene will do something with you, but I doubt it. They seem to be done with you when it comes to anything KISS related, and it’s a shame.
Ace is now okay with Gene?
Last I heard, Ace had a beef with Gene about groping his fiancé.
LOL
These knuckleheads are so funny.
While it would be good for the originals to get back together – would be lucky to get Peter to sing 1-2 songs let alone play drums. Would like to be pleasantly surprised for the fans who go.
Ace should just show up to a show and blow their minds.
Picture current Ace in the spaceman makeup. Not a good visual. If they’re going to do something/anything together it’ll be post KISS.
…and costume. It isn’t pretty.
I hate seeing that imposter, Thayer, dressed as the Spaceman. It just makes me sick. But, right now, Gene and Paul don’t need Ace, or Peter, to sell tickets to this long time coming and well overdue “End of the Road” tour. To me, KI$$ died when the imposters showed up, anyway….but even I can admit they are still a successful venture, as much as I dislike today’s version of KI$$.
I don’t get Ace…the guy accuses Gene of groping his wife, makes comments about “gloves are off” and “sh*t will hit the fan” related to it, and Ace still wants to perform with Gene???? Ace also claiming he’d reunite with Gene and Paul to “do it for the fans” was all a bunch of BS….its all about money. Sadly, loyalty to the fans has nothing to do with it. Heck, Ace doesn’t even have loyalty to his own band members cuz he fired them to use Gene’s solo band members.
So I guess it’s ok for Gene to “grope” the guy’s wife, and (according to his wife) it’s ok that Paul and Gene put out a hit to have Ace “assassinated,” but all is forgiven if Paul and Gene offer Ace a paycheck that’s bigger than Tommy Thayer’s salary.
Sorry, man. You’re a clown – and a clown with no self-respect, at that.
Stick to being sober. Tell the old lady to stop posting ridiculous stories on social media. Stick to making new music (which is actually pretty good). Accept the fact that KISS is doing just fine without you. And move on.
